Aspie Software is just the name of the company. The program is meant for high to middle functioning autistic people. I don't think the program would help low functioning autistic people but it may once I get it done.

My side project for Autism. -
My side project for Autism. The site will be for high functioning autistic's. I have a real problem with both verbal and written communication and this was something I am going to use. Figured I wouldn't be the only one that would benefit from it. I know you took back the comment but just wanted to reply.

My side project for Autism. No it was a typo. Thank you for pointing it out. I fixed it now.

My side project for Autism.I have started a side project that I am trying to get some buzz about. It is going to be open source so hopefully people besides me will be working on it at some point. The website will be a place for people with autism to practice their verbal and written communication skills. The link is to my Facebook page where I give status updates and ask people questions. I just wanted to share the link so people outside my circle would see it. https://www.facebook.com/AspieSoftware/

Compulsive ShopperIf you figure out how to get out of the auto-renewing To-Do list could you possible share that information. Maybe write an article. I have a feeling there are a lot of people out there that could use that information.

Losing and regaining the passion...I feel the same way but haven't figured out how to regain the passion. I still love it just don't want to do it any more. If that makes since. Been struggling with that for 2 years now. For a week or two I have a surge where I am really hyped to work on something. Then after that wears off I spend 3 or 4 months dread doing it. The really hard part is programming is the only thing I know. I have been doing it for most of my life and would be lost with out it.

Internet Explore/Edge and network adminsI have asked them and usually get the same bogus answer of Group policy or we aren't ready for it. All of the intranet apps work with chrome. I built them.
-
Internet Explore/Edge and network adminsWhy is it that most network admins are so in love with IE/edge browsers? Every place I have ever worked the network admin was against using chrome as the default browser. Just wondering if anyone out there knew why this is? Because I can't figure out why.

C# over VB.netI agree 100% with this. Would also like to add that VB has a poor implementation of Linq and Lambdas. And I really can't stand Option Explicit and Option Strict. Shouldn't even be an option, they should always be on.
-
C# over VB.netI started programming .net in VB and I didn't understand why all the C# programmers complained about how bad vb.net programmers are. Then I got a new job programming in C#. I did that for about 4 years and took a new job that was back in vb.net. I now understand why C# programmers were complaining. I now dislike vb.net programmers just like they did. I really miss programming in C# at work.

Startup Experience...There isn't just one thing that we go by when hiring. Yes how the individual fits into the team is one of the biggest factors. But where they worked and what experience they have is also a very big factor as well. It also depends on what role we are trying to fill. If a senior developer has just gotten done and we really need to replace them we wouldn't hire some one with out a lot of experience. But if the need wasn't immediate we would probably take some one with no experience and train them. I guess what I am saying is that there are a varying degree of what people look at when hiring. You can't just blindly say oh this person worked at a start up so they must be a good developer that is passionate about it. Or this person worked at a corporation so they must not be passionate about development. So when your coworkers tell you that companies look fondly at people that have worked at start ups I would say they are full of it. Some places might do that but it isn't a place that I would want to work at. I would want them to take a much broader look at the candidates and much sure they are getting the right fit for the job.
-
Startup Experience...It would depend on what both of the candidates skills are. It would also depend on what our deadlines are. The team maybe slowing down because they just came off a big project. It also depends on how the team feels about the candidates. If they have bad feelings about one or both of them I won't hire. One of the most important things to me and my team is that everyone works well together. So I won't hire any one the whole team doesn't like. If we were slowing down and didn't just get off a big project I would probably go with the start up person. Hope that helps answer your question.

Startup Experience...I agree 100% with Mark on this. Having worked in both a start up environment and a corporate environment I can say they both have their advantages and disadvantages. A lot of the time people that come out of a start up environment have a hard time dealing with all of the procedures and practices in a corporate environment. The start up employee usually wants to just get it done and cut through all the red tap. This can cause a lot of frustration for the employee and employer. I try to keep my teams with both types of programmers. We have the start up programmer around to push the team to get things done at a quicker pace. And the corporate programmers to pull the reins back to make sure we are doing things correctly. But that is just my opinion and how I like to set up my teams.

Appreciating the teams workIn the United States it is completely acceptable to use it that way. And yes I couldn't care less about speaking English as long as my point gets through to the person I am communicating with. Which it obviously did. He didn't agree with it but I think he got the point. I kind of feel bad for you that all you have to do all day is troll the forums and critique how people write/speak English. And by the way English isn't the only language I can screw up either. I am very capable of screwing up French and Spanish as well. Oh I forgot Klingon. I can screw that one up as well. I think you get my point. I hope you have a wonderful day of trolling. http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-ico1.htm[^]

Appreciating the teams workI would say you need to find new developers. I usually could care less when my boss praises me. I get a lot more out of my users praises. Find developers like that and you won't have to worry about their productivity because they will always be trying to impress their users. The reason I say they will always be productive is because even when a user praises you they also have something they don't like about the program to go along with the praise.

Techie Booze GuidelinesI think you should amend this to be 0. Developer drink beer. 1. QA drinks wine. 3. Developer switches to hard liquor after dealing with QA. 4. Ops drinks hard liquor. 5. Developer switches to Grain alcohol after dealing with Ops. 6. DBAs drink blood of the innocent. 7. Developer curls into a ball in the corner saying "Going to my happy place." after dealing with DBA.

Visual Studio.NET, Project inside Solution OR Solution inside Project? They are saying it is irrelevant because it is just the name. Doesn't matter. If it makes more sense to you to have a solution in a project just start calling the solution a project and the projects a solution. At least that is why I think they are saying it is irrelevant. Microsoft could have called it Bing instead and it wouldn't have mattered to me. As long as it opens correctly I could care less what the name is.

Nish rhymes with fishIf we had trains in my area I would sit next to any one wouldn't matter to me. We don't have a public transit system in my area. But I do notice this behavior in pretty much every one in my area. Doesn't matter what race they are the people in my area are mistrusting of any outsiders. And trust me it is easy to spot someone that isn't from my area.
