The file "WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" has a backup in the file "WINDOWS\REPAIR\SYSTEM". You can change the original file with the backup and the system should work.:) Yes the documents and settings folder will not be accessible. You can plug your hard disk in your friend's system and disable simple file sharing by opening windows explorer selecting folder options from the tools menu and then disable simple file sharing from there. You will be able to change the permissions of any folder. You can now right click on documents and settings folder open properties->security->advanced->owner. Now give the ownership of the folder to the admin user on that system. Also select the "replace owner on subcontainers and objects" option. Now you have the ownership of the folder. Add a new user "Everyone" in the properties->security tab and give it all the permissions. Now you should be able to access the content of the folder.

I Hate CSSIf you design your site for IE and then see it in Firefox then it seems like Firefox destroys the layout. So I guess you just have to check your website at every step in both the browsers, cos it seems like they follow different standards.

Did You Guys Hear...One of the software that I often use does ask for admin rights even if the words "Install" or "Setup" are not present in its name. Name of the executable is "daemon408-139-x64.exe"

Microsoft .NET applications for WindowsVisual studio is partly .net. But expression line of products are entirely made in wpf/.net3.0. The user interface is really different and takes time getting used to. I have use expression blend and it has a really small install size as compared to other microsoft products. So at last they have started using their technologies.

Microsoft .NET applications for WindowsMicrosoft Expression line of products uses .net I believe. Also visual studio.net uses .net too. You can confirm this using spy++ which shows that they are actually .net controls.

PHP popularityThe last graph shows that most of the new projects are in ruby(rails). That is the most important part. Most of the new projects are tending towards ruby. I dont believe LOC as the true measure of the success of any language. Rails is a relatively new framework so it is bound to have lesser LOC. I think those figures are going to change drastically in some time.

Google vs MicrosoftWell, what do you think they have created a new OS for their search engine? They have just modified UNIX. Creating a new OS is totally another thing. Microsoft specializes in creating OSes & google does not. So it may be a while before, if at all trey create a new OS.

Google vs MicrosoftWindows was created with simplicity in mind. It is unlike Mac OSes which have a Unix background & thus are more secure & stable. But windows is more customizeable. In vista the have decreased simplicity & increased security like Mac OS. But this in not going to go too well with customers I think. They are doing away with what windows is known for 'SIMPLICITY'. I must also state than Mac OS integrated all the features that people say windows Vista is copying, only after microsoft publicly announced those fetures. Is that a coincedence. No I dont think so. Its Mac who has copied windows not the other way around. Gaurav Sharma

Google vs MicrosoftI don't care what sort of OS they make. But I know something, it will definitely be a Linux or Unix rip-off. They definitely cannot make an OS from scratch. gaurav_scr@hotmail.com
