And I'm still here! I also have a newfound respect for the definition of "cold". Gavin Kendall / Psyphen Codewalker http://gir.slampt.net/~gavin/

hang on or move on?The first reaction from an outsider's point of view would be, "Wow! I wish I had such a job!", but I'm sensing you're feeling unchallenged and uninspired - which is exactly the kind of drudgery thinking that comes into play when being unemployed. You're clearly bored and yet you're getting paid to do sfa. I've been in a situation where I had finished my work so quickly that I was waiting for everyone else to finish (such as graphics design or backend server programming) and in the end I just played games until I was needed again. It wasn't a good feeling (even though my mates reckon that was the best part of the job at the time). So I say stay at it for the next few months. If you still feel this way then perhaps you should look at other options. You also need to consider if you're financially supporting a partner or family right now.

From Australia To CanadaThe bags aren't packed yet, the tickets haven't been booked either, and here I am about to leave my job in Australia to find new ground in Canada. So what do I know of Canada? Well I know it's cold. (Great. That's a start). What I need to know from you is, have you worked in Canada yourself? If so, what is it like to work for the development companies in Canada? Is there a particular corporate culture I need to be aware of?

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road? How the customer explained it: I need a road with a chicken on it. How the project leader understood it: We need a chicken with a road. How the analyst designed it: (a chicken-shaped road) How the programmer wrote it: (a road crossing a chicken) How the business consultant described it: It's a turbo-charged hawk with enough power to fly across any road ever made. How the project was documented: ... What operations installed: (feathers lying on the road) How the customer was billed: (same price for a multi-lane highway but no chicken) How it was supported: We don't do roads. If you want to discuss chickens please press 4 after the tone. What the customer really needed: (a chicken crossing the road)

Source code control recommendationsWe've been using Team Foundation Server. Despite a few quirks I personally find it very intuitive since it integrates well with Visual Studio.

Microsoft - this is just embarrassingI just saw the animation myself. I can now hear a collective "eeeewwww" from the audience of voices in my head... ...no wait. I think I'm more disturbing than Microsoft now. :~ I'm scared. :wtf:
