That'd be cool; I'm curious for the companies that do, is it during paid time or a lunch seminar or something along those lines as well. There should be no difference except that one happens after the operation, the other before. However, in a for loop it does not matter: for (int i = 0; i < 3; ++i) Console.Write(i); for (int i = 0; i < 3; i++) Console.Write(i); Yields the same result. However these do not: for (int i = 0; i < 3;) Console.WriteLine(i++); for (int i = 0; i < 3;) Console.WriteLine(++i);

Truthfully, I started before I was doing dev work; I was working at some soulless monstrosity of a 'software' company doing tech support, they were going to pay for it, and it was pretty much the only way I was getting off the phones full-time. However, right before I started, I got a dev job at a start-up (that didn't pay for it...), so I figured I was already in and registered, so just stick it out.

Programmers don't all work the same way; even when dealing in static languages and using self-documenting naming conventions, people will take away different meanings at first glance. How about when coming across a moderately sophisticated regex? Surely a one-line comment would explain its purpose quite effectively. It also helps in maintenance/debugging if you can read in plain terms what the developer had originally intended. Sometimes a fist in the face says more than a thousand honeyed words.

Thanks; I was able to figure it out from the pictures the next day. Those clips were included but were an absolute beast to install. I'm not sure why they think they have to be that tight, but that easily took up half of my total hardware installation time.

Actually if you take example of Sharepoint or ASP.Net WepParts framework (basically sharepoint), I have used it in one of my project for Dashboard. then it requires users to change the Display Mode of the dashboard from View to Edit. so I followed their flow, and put an Edit button on the Top to change the mode to edit (so that they can change it, arrange it), once they hit Save it will return into View mode. After this implementation, I got lot of feedback about user forget to change it to Edit mode and get frustrated that they can edit the dashboard. so I change the code so that the dashboard remain in the edit mode. After that, I got complains about how they moved/edit widgets by accident. (lot of people minimized the widget and then complain about it disappearing without notice.) and after few months, all this stupid complains stopped. so sometimes you just have to educate them. there is no other way. :)
