Any old-school C/C++ devs notice that the snippets.org site went offline and was picked up by someone for some other purpose? I have been trying to find out if anything happened to Bob (as his health may have been failing in past years, IIUC), and if there are any known recent archives/mirrors of the Snippets? While I will not suggest using the ribbon or not (although I have seen it used quite well), if you do choose to use it, be sure to get a license for it from MS. Search for "Microsoft License Agreement: 2010 Office Fluent User Interface" for more info.

3: Get a Windows version of the "tee" utility so that the OP can get it both in a file and in the output. Helps with interactive apps or while debugging. Peace!

Likely not - I believe that once a DLL is loaded into a process, unloading it is not possible (normally). How about this - instead of opening the file itself, try copying it to a temp location and open the copy instead. After having it opened, open/close it again (via code) with the DELETE_ON_CLOSE flag and the file should clean itself up when it is finally closed. Peace!

Long story short - had a form with lots of data in it, with multiple dynamic fields. Submitted. Boom! Server had gone down while I was still entering data. :mad: Web dudes and dudettes - if your forms are large enough so that if the data you entered is lost you end up get seriously pissed about it, you are likely using the wrong platform! :mad: :mad: Even the 3270 terminal had a session status icon... We jumped back to 3270-style form/page based apps, but forgot things like server/connection status? Geeze... :mad: :mad: :mad: In this world of AJAX, why the hell do these kinds of sites not have some kind of indicator that can tell me if the server went down, or my session is expiring (or HAS expired), or anything else that can result in data loss once I hit [Submit]? At least then I can pop open Notepad and save what I entered so it is not lost... :doh: OK... Rant over. Peace!

[Did a search, no results for "left 4 dead", so sorry if this is a repost...] Left 4 Dead [^] is an awesome game! If you like FPS games, and think that the zombie aspect is an added bonus, you are likely going to love this game! Had the demo for some time and pre-ordered on Steam. Game was activated/released yesterday and is one helluva fun way to waste several hours! Anyone else have it and like it? Peace!

I believe the jump to apples and oranges just took place. While not taking a side on the whole smoking argument, because people were never really "allergic" to cigarette smoke until only about 10-15 years ago, there is a medically validated health concern that the smoke can affect other otherwise normal people. There is no normal person that is going to get cancer from a joke involving a priest, rabbi, chicken and an extra large tube of KY jelly. Peace!
