    J jediYL

Why share this with me? I can't believe you? But I guess it's true. I would assume everyone sooner or later has the chance to be gay and jump at the opportunity to share and learn. Humans want to be more human, less constrained by the propaganda of prohibition, and so you coupled with a girlfriend with a penchant for romantic :rose:correspondence. Gay affairs rarely destroy marriages. On the other hand, you may have met a flirtatious :rose: boy you couldn't resist, or a gentleman that was too :rose: sweet to not return affections to. Or maybe this all occurred when you and your husband were just dating (years :rose: X| ago). Or maybe all of the above? To me it's interesting that you would feel the urge to share this deeply emotional experience in a geek forum, where I doubt you'll find much of a heartbeat. Post titled Infidelity seems out of place, I'm sorry. Maybe it would be better titled something more equivocal, like "I always, always land like a cat." And... Wait for it... Is this is a bug - or a feature? The devil is in the details... Maybe you should share more of your story - 'spill the wine' - since you're obviously not the world's shyest person. Which of course, we all already knew.

  • Nerds vs Geeks ... Does that still exist?
    J jediYL

A geek finds a great deal of interest in computers and electronic gizmos; they show little interest in athletic sports, and tend to goofiness, and shyness. Their lack of physical prowess suggests they are more easily dominated than others. A nerd is a victim of society due to a lack of aptitude, both physically and mentally. Someone to destroy. In a mechanistic world, they are co-victims, and therefore the terms become confused as people attempt to distance themselves from the contests of bullies, and so on, of schoolyards and barrooms. Of course, the entertainment media settles upon stereotypes to which the audience can relate. These words can be confused easily. You shouldn't think of yourself as a nerd, IMHO, unless you're really weird.

  • Maybe a first article from my side - unsure how to do it - tips appreciated
    J jediYL

:rose:You might want to try CodeProject.Show, an offline article writer for CodeProject developed by Anele Mbanga. The link is to the CodeProject article which includes source code and installer for the Show app. In Anele's words,

    Quote:

The purpose of this article is to introduce CodeProject.Show, an offline CodeProject article writer. CodeProject.Show has been developed using WinForms, ICSharp.TextEditor and the Webbrowser control using VB.Net. I started developing this five days ago to enable me to write my CodeProject articles offline. This was due to internet connectivity issues at times being erratic and also me loosing an article due to these internet challenges. I also wanted to ensure that I kept track of my articles and are able to update them in one place.

    Good luck! :-D

I was just watching Frozen Planet, and you remind me of like this person that is stuck on this ship in the middle of the Antartic Ocean in the middle of a storm in the middle the winter, wondering whether you should stick it out with the Captain or just smile and say Adios! You really shouldn't find solutions to your problems in the Lounge while others are still discussing them with you. Make a note of that. While I'm sure your intent was not MS bashing, your question disturbs the dissonant empathy in us all who seek common sense. The logical mind in its logical diorama. But I'm a cuckoo. • How smart is average?
    J jediYL

Average persons give average solutions to problems, whereas better-than-average individuals give better solutions. Meaning the same sort of solution as most others came up with under the same conditions. Well, most problems have solutions that are gradient of a worst to best choices; the mind can pare these down to a set of multiple choice answers. The answer most people give is the average. On the one hand a problem may have only one solution that everyone can come up with, like how to open a bag of potato chips. On the other hand it could be difficult to determine how a great solution is any better than an average solution, like a Windsor tie knot. Dumb persons usually know that they are using a poor solution. They have a creeping feeling that something is amiss in how they are dealing with a situation. Usually they can rely on the observations of an average individual to help them, correct them, and likely save them from trouble. Correcting a dumb person does not make a person any better than average one. Assumedly, smart persons are those persons that correct the solutions of average persons. This being a robust planet of average people, this sort of intelligence correction is of very little use, and is generally discouraged. Luckily, you're asking about average people :-D and not smart people :( . Let's be frank about this though. On earth there are a few goals to which ninety-nine percent of the people yearn and strive: To be rich, and carefree! 'Nuf said. So what are the average results for any person in the world today probably describes a concept of averagicity. This concept boils down to an order of priorities. Which comes first and last? 1) Cut lawn. 2) Drink tea. 3) Study code. What's the best time to masturbate? Winter? Or summer? Answers describe us, and our destiny. Average prioritization yields average life. Rebellion is futile. Good luck

I myself am awed and shocked by your experience. My HP keyboard has a Cut key, Copy key, and Paste key that I'd be crippled without. What it lacks is an Undo key and Redo key. Has some other keys I don't like. But the Scroll Lock key is the sin of hostility toward me and all keyboard users. I'm not naming names. That Pause|Break key too, and also the Sys Rq key )?!( Though I'd live on an island of keys, dirt, or whatever in Dubai -- marry me.

  • StackOverlow Alternatives ?
    J jediYL

On this occasion, I'd like to bestow my down-vote of StackOverflow and all things StackOverflow. Apparently, if a question wasn't answered before 2010, it shouldn't be asked. StackOverflow can be a mean and nasty place to demonstrate one's lack of knowledge on a subject. Down with OverflowImperialism. Viva la revolución! However, Stack UX and Stack Programmers, for user interface and programming subjects in general, respectively, are very much thriving these days. Sorry I didn't answer your question.
