  • Almost nobody knows how to write software anymore.
    J jlongo

They would have hired the lowest bidder who would then have used H1-B’s to write it. Those H1-Bs - brought to you by Democrats and RINOs - are lowering wages and bill rates in IT…all to make the big tech owners richer. If you don’t believe me compare the salary of a cloud engineer from 2020 to 2023.

  • What You May Not Know About Apple Dev
    J jlongo

I know that when they designed Swift they could have just used the ECMA C# standard— and saved a ton of money on language design by using a language designed by people who know how to design a language and that is 20 years mature. I have a tiny little iOS app written in Swift. Every time I have to update it to comply with the store. I have to edit some of the code because they’re still working out the swift language.

  • Windows 10 Search Bar has unwanted content
    J jlongo

Recently my Windows 10 search bar started displaying stupid hippy-big-tech woke messages like this one: "Celebrate Earth Day" with a stupid icon. It is distracting and unwanted. My built-in rebellious nature and resentment of authority and being a general A-Hole makes we want to do the opposite. How do I return it to a nice empty, non-offensive, non-distracting white box like it is supposed to be ? I assume it some registry key, but which one ? This one makes me want to go out and buy a 2002 Hummer and spread weed killer and fertilizer in my yard and then throw my garbage in the river. I can't wait to see the next one. Maybe BLM, Obamacare, Groom Children day, Cut your junk off day, etc.

  • How to buy medical insurance personally?
    J jlongo

I am not “trolling”. I am simply stating my experience when “helped” by the government. I had a thriving business prior to 2008 since 1992. I published retail games and did consulting work. I raised a family buying my own insurance on the individual market. In 2010 Obamacare was rammed through using reconciliation. It destroyed the individual market. If you are poor, it is great. You pay little or nothing and get about the same. If you work and make money you get F…ed. No nice way to put it. Everyone here works and makes money or will or has. I hear about “saving Obamacare” as if it something good to do. It is EVIL and destructive and needed to die and would have if not for the RINO John McCain in 2017. I am bitter and angry because Obamacare was direct assault on MY finances. I closed my business in 2017 and am now a wage slave and will be until I retire or die.

  • How to buy medical insurance personally?
    J jlongo

Thanks to YOU getting f..ed by Obamacare, you only have three choices. Purchase grossly overpriced worthless coverage on the “exchanges”, buy whatever it is that “Christian Medishare” is, or take a corp job for a short time and use 18 month COBRA coverage-repeat. The individual market was sh..tty but usable in 2010, but was destroyed by Obamacare. I used to do what you are considering, thanks to Obamacare’s 24k premiums + $7500 deductible(in 2016)… I am now a corporate slave. I share this for anybody who believes the lie that Obamacare did anything for WORKING Americans. Good luck to you…

  • Roku vs Fire Stick
    J jlongo

I have found the “Internet” browser in fire stick to work with “putlocker”, the successor to “couchtuner”. It is primitive enough to not be consumed by the pop-ups, but functional enough to run putlocker. Firefox on Fire Stick cannot run putlocker.

  • Absolutely Horrific
    J jlongo

1- the link refers to Java, not .Net. MS has nothing to do with this. 2- if this fragment is required, the developer is doing it wrong. He is using the wrong class for the wrong job or has not properly configured the app ( a cache in this case) 3 - the class is defective, perhaps one of 100 open-source jars to choose from, perhaps another “vendor” is in order 4- is this H1-B code? That would explain it.

  • Progressives.... not getting along with me
    J jlongo

I have to live with progressives and I find them dangerously annoying. Thanks to progressives you can clearly see feces and needles on the sidewalk. Like all progressives, you are forced to tolerate them even though you want to beat them with a hammer. I say run progressives over with your car — then backup to do the job right.

If you have to manage VM images in Azure, this idea may save you alot of work. I have been developing ImageStorm, an Azure Marketplace service for creating/managing Azure VM images. The idea is to automatically create images from a Template VM reducing the work required by Azure admins. To make it palatable to corporate customers, it installs as PaaS inside the customers subscription. VM Scale Sets are an Azure Compute resource you can use to deploy and manage a collection of virtual machines as a set. Scale sets are well suited for building large-scale services targeting big compute, big data, and containerized workloads - all of which are increasing in significance as cloud computing continues to evolve. Scale set VMs are configured identically, you just choose how many you need, which enables them to scale out and in rapidly and automatically. The elastic nature of VM Scale Sets makes them ideal for supporting scale-out workloads like stateless web front ends and container orchestration or microservices clusters. The main real-world problem with Scale Sets is "staleness" of the source Image. I have documentation here: Manual - ImageStorm[^] If you would like to participate, please reach out and I will make the Azure Marketplace Beta available to your subscription. I have gotten two kinds of feedback: a: Game changing idea b: Why ? I would appreciate any comments and you can't hurt my feelings. If this is a stupid idea, I want to hear it.

    J jlongo

If project and team is small and server must be in-house, you can consider Azure DevOps Express. Free for 5 member teams and runs on single machine. However, hosted Azure DevOps would be my choice. When you consider hardware, configuration, maintenance, updates , backups , TCO is cheap.
