I suppose the simple packaging fits Apple's "less is more" philosophy. Such as with mouse buttons! And software/hardware! :-D Jokes aside, I haven't had the heart to throw away my iPod box. They really do a quality job on the packaging, just like how they do it with their hardware and its UI.

I got news for you. It's not just that a lot of the open source stuff sucks, you should see some of the crap we PAY huge money for. We use a system in my day job that we pay an exhorbitant amount of money for that crashes fairly often and its a beast to use. I have no idea why there isn't any really good stuff out there. For my growing business I've decided instead to use a mix of software from various vendors to fill the need since I can't find anything that really knocks my socks off that covers all the bases. We are considering salesforce.com for bug tracking and helpdesk support, ms project for project tracking, etc.

I'm seeing the same thing... If you look at one of the feed URLs in a browser you get an (unspecified) runtime error. I understand there are some hardware and configuration changes underway on the site. Looks like they missed this.
