In my state (Nebraska), I started driving legally (without an adult in the car) at 14 using a school permit (allows travel to and from school and school events). For that purpose, I was eligible for a learners permit 3mo prior to my 14th birthday.

minimalness of the MSDN subscriptions. While it 'mostly' covers everything, there are things missing.
Can you expand on this bit? I downloaded the MSDN subscription comparison spreadsheet as well but nothing jumped out at me. What is the Pro version missing that you would use if you had a higher sub?

Which version of VS11?OK, my company is looking to purchase VS11. In the past they have always just gotten us the basic Pro version (no MSDN) by default. This year they are seriously considering getting us the MSDN subscription and asked us to make a case for getting Premium or Ultimate as well. I've gone to the comparison chart here: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/11/en-us/products/compare[^] But since I've never used anything but Pro, a lot of the features are foreign to me. We are a small team in a large company and we don't use anything TFS related. We are primarily a C++ shop (largely MFC/ATL/COM) with a very small amount of .NET but very little UI development and very little database or web development. So, for those of you who have Premium or Ultimate, what would you REALLY miss if you were dropped down to Pro? and Why?

There is no hope IIcurious, did you talk to the teacher about this incident? If so, what did she/he have to say about it? If not, being the internet and all, I'm gonna have to go with the "kids NEVER lie to thier parents about what happened at school" :sarcasm: response. My guess is the situation went down something like this: Teacher: "Is that the Ukraine flag?" Student: "I think so." Teacher: "Lets double-check." (looks it up in the book) Student: "OK" (redos flag) Parent: "Thats not the right flag." Student: "I told the teacher that!"

IE9 --- Thumbs down after 60 secondsPersonally I like it. I didn't have the issues with the install that you did. I clicked install, the installer went away. I even continued to use IE8 and do my work on my machine normally. It came back and said I needed to reboot to finish, I told it "later" and went about my business until I was ready to normally reboot. At which point it came back up with IE9 installed and ready to go. It's clean It's fast (fastest browser on the market currently[^]) It integrates nicely with Win7 and doesn't cause problems on lesser windows OS (like Vista/XP). Supposedly it's secure. It's fairly standard compliant (at least as much as is necessary for web browsing IMO) It supports HTML5 better than any other browser... What isn't to like?

Thats because most people are idealistic and paranoid instead of realistic and rational.

Why windows 7 is rubbishwhat installer are you using? I know that NSIS can do this with a simple "RequestExecutionLevel admin" at the top. scratch that, I misread the suggestion. However, with my dealings in C++, I know that my app certainly gets errors in Vista/Weven when I try to write or read from a registry setting the user doesn't have access to.

How to get all "in use" ports on a windows machine - Not a programming question.Lol. Even google has failed me in this endeavor (so far). It seems that you and I think alike. Thanks anyway. I'm starting to think there is a rootkit out there that is using these ports and causing problems but I really don't have any basis for that guess other than paranoia.

How to get all "in use" ports on a windows machine - Not a programming question.netstat -ano Thats the point of the quandry. The port isn't in listen status. It seems as though some app has bound it but not started listening. There is a whole range of about 20 ports around the range I need to use that are in use but don't show up in netstat.

How to get all "in use" ports on a windows machine - Not a programming question.Nope, doesn't show up there either (thats one that I already tried) TCPView provides a more informative and conveniently presented subset of the Netstat program that ships with Windows. Since it's a subset of netstat, it won't show anything that netstat doesn't show.

How to get all "in use" ports on a windows machine - Not a programming question. So, I've got a port on my machine that returns a WSAEADDRINUSE error when i try to Listen on it. But the port doesn't show up in netstat. How do I find out what app is using the port? I searched sysinternals for something but I couldn't find anything useful there. seems odd since everything there is useful so I'm probably using the wrong tool. Ideas/Thoughts/Suggestions?

Most efficient Collection?Whats the most efficient way of storing and referecing a list of ~2000 unsorted key value pairs in C#? I understand that there is not really any definite answer here since it will depend on the data, however, I'm not familiar enough with the .NET framework to know which ones to even test. I'm an MFC C++ developer who is migrating to C#. In MFC C++ I would use a CMap or a muiltidimensional array to store the data and it would be efficient enough for my needs. I'm finding in C#, neither (a series of arrays or a Hashtable) is working out very well. Both seem to be far less efficient than my implementations in C++ but I'm assuming this is mostly because of my inability to code C# as well as I do in C++. For reference, I need to store 5-6 values for ~2000 keys (3-30 character strings) and receive between 200-10,000 updates a second (averaging about 750) total. Recomendations? Should I look at another data storage method or should I work on improving my existing attempts?

Need some education about indian food (in the US)I don't mind onion used as an ingredient in dishes. I just can't stand the texture of onions (even when cooked). As long as they aren't crunchy and as long as I can't see them, I'm fine (or I'll pick them out). When I cook at home, I either use onion salt as a replacement for the onion or I cook the onion with the dish and segregate after cooking so they never make it to my plate (but others can mix them in if they want them).

Need some education about indian food (in the US)And of course this is the reason I am looking for education. I assumed that different regions of india would produce different varieties of indian food. However, I just assumed that they would be called something different. Here in the US, there are some foods you simply can't get in parts of the country. But if I found a resturant that served those foods, I can reasonably expect some resemblance in the dish. As for buffets, we have tried several and you're right, we always find something we like. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what we are eating and since the labels on the food are different at every resturant, we don't know enough to know that we are going to like what we order at other resturants. Indian food rarely lists what is in a dish, they just give a name. Looking at the websites of a few places we've eaten at, one claims "northern india" flavors, another claims "northern and southern india" flavors...but most don't claim anything at all. Perhaps I need to just learn more about the different regions of india in general?

Need some education about indian food (in the US)unfortunately it is "Indian Resturants"... While we are a bit of a tech center and do have a large indian population (hence all the indian resturants), All of the Indian people I know and work with aren't really native to india. They've all been here for 10+ years and/or were born in the states and went through our school system. Here is an example of a Chicken Curry recipie we enjoy at home: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/indian-chicken-curry-ii/Detail.aspx All of the resturants we have eaten at thus far have seemed fairly "authentic" but admittedly we are ignorant to what real authentic indian food is.

Need some education about indian food (in the US)OK, my wife loves indian food. About once a month or so, we go out to an indian resturant or cook some curry chicken at home. There is quite a selection of indian resturants where I live and we never eat at the same place twice (at least we probably won't until we've tried them all). The problem I run into (as someone who likes but is shy of spicy foods) is that each resturant seems to have pretty much the same menu but it isn't the same food. I've been told that Tikki Masala is the dish to order for "stupid (US) americans" like me. Scenario: Resturant #2: I order Tikki Masala, wife orders Tikki Korma...I get something that doesn't taste too bad but it definately has a mixture of stuff in it that that I don't care for (Onions for one), it is a curry colored sauce and fairly thick. My wife's Tikki Korma is a red cream sauce and I absolutely love that stuff. Resturant #2, I order some kebab thing and the wife orders Tikki Masala. I get basically what I would expect out of a kabab and it isn't too bad. On the other hand, my wife gets something that looks exactly like the Tikki Korma from the other resturant and tastes very similar as well. This goes on for almost a year now and we never really know what we are gonna end up with after ordering. It seems like Tikki Masala and Tikki Korma almost interchangable from resturant to resturant but every resturant has both on the menu. There are other examples of this from the dishes but this is the one that we always come across since I almost always order one or the other while the wife branches out and gets something new. So, what am I missing? I mean, I can understand slight variations of a dish from place to place but what I've gotten are 2 completely different dishes while ordering the same thing on a menu. Is there a guide online somewhere to indian food that I can read up and be a bit more educated?

Looking For A RobotI recently looked into these as well (was thinking of buying one instead of paying someone 150$ to come check the sewer line from my new house out to the street.) The prices I found disuaded me... However, here is one good for up to 130ft for $1100 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YDLRJI/ref=asc_df_B003YDLRJI1339802?smid=ACXZDXAAF532Y&tag=nextagusmp0404127-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B003YDLRJI[^]

Always check your receiptNot necessarily...have you ever stepped on a bathroom scale (or the type of scale used for weighing people in a doctor's office)? Assuming you have, now lean to the far right/left/front/back and notice how the weight changes slightly (even after it settles from the movement)... most scales are innaccurate unless the object being weighed are centered and not moving. I participaged in sports for nearly ~15 years being weighed at least once a week...there are a LOT of ways to cheat a scale.
