I found the titles by Amit Kalani to be good. 315 - Web C#[^] 320 - Web services C#[^] 316 - Windows C#[^] These all provide plenty of detail, and include exam prep software. We tried that already. We installed BITS 2.0 redistributable for Win2k (the same one featured in your link). This is our problem: on Win2003 we get a 'BITS Server Extensions' tab in the IIS MMC configuration for directory properties, to enable BITS uploads to a virtual directory. We cannot find the same tab anywhere on the Win2K IIS MMC configuration after we install the redistributable. Any further ideas?

Yes that's what i thought initially: the engine doesn't really delete the records, but adds extra info to mark them as deleted, hence the increase in size.

Your first rule also happens to be my rule as well ;) Actually it is a service pack issue. On some Win2K's it was working ok, but on some others it wasn't. The ones on which it failed did not have SP4 installed. We're still investigating it further...thanks for stopping by and help just the same!

I am not aware of anyway to directly access Outlook pst files, however, the Outlook Object Model would provide an indirect way to not only examine the contents of this file but also to manipulate it.
