We're not all in the US: Annual rant about dates -
Back to the office after 2+ years of working from fromDragged back in (kicking and screaming) for two days a week. Two hour commute each way - oh joy. General consensus amongst my co-workers is the same as me - why? My job includes analysing metrics on work throughput and they clearly show that more work was completed during home working than during the traditional(?) office based working. Management disagree with the numbers, which they originally requested (to keep an eye on staff during the lockdown?)... So, it seems to be a case of "tell me what I want to hear, not what I need to hear".

False Advertising ?I used to have a copy of (I think) "C# 3 In a Nutshell" and believe that was about half the size of your book... Remember when C# was simple and easy to use before the CS nerds ;P got their claws into it? sigh...

Dear Programmers, Why do you hate me?Ha! Take your annual report and trump it with a monthly report which has to show the data (three different points per item) with the months of the year (pre-set for all twelve) PLUS the same again - but this time for accumulated monthly figures totals...and don't forget the little (colour-coded) up/down arrows to show if performance has improved or not...

Is Windows 11 ready to be used? Not if I have to buy a new PC to use it - and a new tablet for the better half, so NO. ;P

Engineering questionThe speed of the wheels is irrelevant - they aren't powered or driven in any way. The speed of the airflow over the wings is the source of lift, along with the wings angle of incidence. Assuming the conveyor is moving at the same speed (but in the opposite direction) as the aircraft would be on a normal runway then the aircraft would actually be stationery and the airflow over the wings would effectively be zero and thus not generating any lift?

Do you play video games in your spare time?Currently playing Witcher 3. Previous addictions have included Shogun Total War (the very first Total War title - still play it...), Medieval Total War (the first version), European Air War (flight sim) and Fallout: New Vegas. Have finally weaned myself off Borderlands and Borderlands 2 - six weeks clean and taking it day by day....

Do you play video games in your spare time?Last time I played WoT (couple of years ago) I was under the impression from the in-game "chat" that the Russian Mafia were playing the game as much as financing it.... :-D

Low-Code-No-Code BloatwareIs that the article citing how Excel is a great example of low-code democratisation? Reading that my first thought was " had this clown ever looked at any Excel spreadsheets designed by the 'democratised'"? Also, our favoured software supplier is very fond of providing solutions which have 'low-code' front ends for business numpties to 'develop' with (to protect them from doing any real harm) and they invariably make it impossible to do much more than change the colour of a font.... But hey!, the 'potential' is there for you to use... And, of course, Management (who will never, ever have to use it), buy into the crap and expect wonders from staff who have no idea what the hell they're doing....
