What do you call yours? [Modified for clarity] -
Share your experiences with Nokia Lumia phone...I own a 1520 and absolutely love it. I really liked my 920 but the 1520 blows it away.

What a winterWow, that's awesome. Well played sir.

ME WANT!I'm not entirely sure what you're saying... do you or don't you want it?
-
Win 8.1I have. It was like a service pack (unless you're upgrading from the beta).

If you have a touch device, you can use a picture password instead. That's what I do on both of my Windows RT devices.

The first thing is the need for a Hotmail account to log into my own computer; big brother, slightly moreso than Android and gmail, but not obtrusive.
That's not quite true. If you want to have your configuration backed up and be able to roam it, you need a Microsoft Account (formerly Live ID), which can use any email address (my MS account's email address is a gmail account, though I'm moving away from gmail at this point). And I know you can create accounts that are strictly local -- no need to sign in with your MS Account.

On a scale of 1 to Canadian, how much do you like watching/playing hockey?Love watching the Blues play.

Oh good grief! Could be TWOTD...I am so addicted to that game (on Windows 8.1 RT).

VS2013 pricing...Find a VS2012 reseller who offers a price below that of the MSRP, then upgrade from 2012 to 2013 for the $99 price?

IE11, fast...The version that shipped with Win8.1 was buggy as heck but they've updated it and that seems to have resolved my crash issues. I like it.

Windows 8.1 UpgradeAmen. And the upgrade worked flawlessly for most people (myself included). With any new release you're going to have some folks who run into trouble.

Windows 8.1 nightmare..Worked flawlessly for me on my Surface RT and my desktop (Win8 Pro). The Surface took quite a while but it worked great. Loving the new version even more than the original.

So, I just upgraded to windows 8.1Ok, so now I really don't understand your original issue. It's not like you have to use SkyDrive. It's there if you want it.
-
So, I just upgraded to windows 8.1Um... not quite sure I get what you're saying. With a Microsoft Account, I believe you can configure SkyDrive to get you access to those local resources (at least you could with the SkyDrive desktop application on Win7 and Win8 before 8.1).

And they try to get you to log in with a web account, rather than a local account - again.
And what's wrong with that? It works rather nicely, lets you sync settings across devices, give you seamless access to SkyDrive, etc. I updated my Surface RT and my desktop PC yesterday. Other than the fact that it took quite a while to do (which isn't really surprising, I suppose), I didn't have any problems. I really liked Win 8 & RT, but the 8.1/8.1 RT changes really rock!

New colours in Metro are even worse - the orange is just awful.
So change them. That's not difficult.

I think they should have put these options under the User Image/Name on the Start Page, just below Log Out.
Agreed.

a new Hotkey-Combination? I will have to change my own bindings then... :sigh:
Either that or get a trackpad that supports Win8 gestures so that you can use it to swipe the charm bar into view (I have one of these for my desktop machine).

should I ever upgrade to Windows 8
You should! :-D

Please fire the person in Microsoft that thought the charms thing is okWhy do it with the mouse when you can hit Win-C so easily?
