Excellent. I've been preaching this [VM page faults kill performance and are all to often ignored] for years, though not as eloquently. Years ago, I had a very heated argument with a PhD on our staff who refused to understand this. No matter how many real world numbers I showed him, he kept insisting on using the theoretical "Knuth" numbers (I wasn't the only one he plagued with his theory crap, just the first. It eventually got him fired.)

Until now I see no reason to move from SVN. I had no problems with it. We have several branches for several releases. The repository has grown really big. And Tortoise is a life saver. Solving conflits and performin merges are quick and natural. I don't know why you are having problems, maybe you are the unlucky from the crowd. I'm with SVN and don't intend to let it go.

My company is moving us into "open office space". Granted it is not like what you showed, but I'm a big believer in the need for people to work undisturbed at times. I've worked in open environments and I've worked in offices. I do my best work where I can get away from the crowd and concentrate. There is a need for collaboration at times, but if you are working on software that requires thought and not just typing skills you better be able to get away from the crowd. Microsoft have a connect bug registered for this (ID#501921), maybe if enough people express an interest, they might get the implementation of this into the first service pack. - you never know :)
