My Hauppauge card has served me very well through two machines though it is advisable to download new drivers from their web site at intervals; instructions for this are comprehensive but require close attention and you should have relevant part numbers to hand. Hi First you should make a list of all the special days you are interested in, and then do a Google search on how to calculate when is each one. For example, Easter, is the Sunday following the Paschal Full Moon (PFM) date for the year; Mother's Day is always the second Sunday of May and so on. It only had one issue (it was broken when I bought it used) the screen was misaligned, which just required me to open it up and use some hot glue. I rip about 90% of my CD's. I don't like lugging CD's around. I bought an in dash MP3 player (uses CD-R's) from Aiwa. Now I have about 10 CD's in my car instead of 100. Also, when I want to update one I just toss it and re-create since I keep them all stored on my machine. I probably use Winamp more than WMP but that's a toss up these days. They went too far with Winamp3. Once upon a time Winamp3 used small resources and started up very quickly. Now it takes as long as WMP and is about as big and when it comes to usability, WMP is easier. So, there you go. (David Wulff is right here, btw. For your needs, the basic CD Player would be faster... and all you'd have to do is associate CD's with it and you'd never have to hit Start Run again...)
