I recently complained that while upgrading to a newer version of itunes to initialise my new ipod shuffle apple managed to fail to install the corect dll's and give me an error message every time I started the computer. As I only needed it to initialise the ipod ( I've written my own mp3 player that knocks apples drivel into a cocked hat ) I uninstalled itunes problem solved then? Not a chance the dll error still occurs even without itunes installed so I am currently uninstalling everything on that pc that has any connection with apple in its name to see if that will fix it.

I just upgraded my little clippy shuffle to the new 4th gen version. As it was new I needed to initialise it with itunes. The version on my computer 6,7,8 or 9 would not recognise it so I had to download the brand spanking new version 10 on my vista machine. Everything went fine with no problems at all and once it was initiallised I was able to copy music across from Personal Music Player just fine. Now everytime I reboot the machine I get a lovely little dialog saying one of apples services can't start because it can't find the correct dll version. Thanks apple. I shall take great pleasure in uninstalling your bloated rubbish piece of junk.

I'm at that awkward point where my level 25 sneaker/thief/archer can work through most caves/dungeons/areas/keeps/castles without too much trouble only to get completely slaughtered by the boss/bosses/last room. I need to update my sword and blocking skills for the face to face stuff because I'm just not causing enough damage and being only in light armour I've met things/people that took me out with two hits. Have got about 4 dragons down though :)

Version 1 is done and dusted. As it should be this is an incremental update and small functionality changes and fixing some of the bugs in the last beta. Including the one where the default settings were overriding the custom settings on the playlist and the library. :-O I'll start on version 2 in January after I've handed in the Masters dissertation. I'm aiming for wpf controls so we'll see how that goes. If it's terrible nothing more will be said about it. It might take a while not so much because of the health problems but because I'm contemplating going for a phd. ( As long as I pass the masters ) I'm currently thinking Dostoevsky sounds good. Big thick complicated books with lots of criticism written about him so 50,000 words shouldn't be too hard. Plus as an added bonus after the first year you get a Masters in Philosphy which means even if I fluffed the phd I could still end up with the full set of available masters degrees ( Arts, Science and Philosphy ) Nothing is decided yet though as it will quite possibly be hard work so see how I feel about it next year. Till then there's some serious Skyrim to be played. It showed back up on steam and downloaded all lovely.

This is MS not only will it not delete silverlight it will constantly nag you to install every program that is even capable of using silverlight including every edition of that IE thingy, forever.

I can't speak for silverlight because I've never had any interest in web programming. ( Yes I know I'm becomming like my old university lecturer quite happy to stick with the stuff I know. We used to laugh at him for using still using dos based programs when we had all moved on to win 3.11 ) But Wpf which I'm just learning at the moment is more of a gui programming extension that can also be used on the web, but probably not if you want to leverage the full capabilities. From the windows programming point of view it's more the next generation of forms etc. Though apparently you can't do transitions when using a wpf control in a windows forms app. I haven;t tried it yet but this is the only thing I'm not happy about. But then it's easily fixed with tabs or splitters, it's just that transitions would be cooler.

Skyrim is a available for preload. Yay. Load steam and get ready to start. And it's gone. No Skyrim in my games list. The forums were hacked a couple of days ago so no help there. Leave a few hours and come back still no Skyrim. Decide to contact Steam support to see what's going on. Go to create account and enter details. Wont create the account because it says I've already got an account. Ask to reset the pasword because I can vaguely remember creating an account years ago. Get Email Try to log into Steam account. No account with that email address. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I still buy them quite regularly. If you are buying a dl album from play they usually come in around 6-7.99 but if it is an old album you can often get the cd for 3.50 and just rip it.
