If you've got a 64-bit version of Office installed, you can't install the 32-bit driver. There doesn't seem to be a sensible reason for this, but you'd have to ask Microsoft for a definitive answer. Depending on the files you're reading, you might be able to get away with installing the Office 2007 version[^] of the driver, as suggested in this SO answer[^]. The 2007 drivers were 32-bit only, and shouldn't be blocked by the 64-bit version of Office 2010. Did you check your registry? In Word you can only store 2 bytes. That is why I use Writer.

I understand that MsgBox is a Server type of function and would not work which is why I am looking for a replacement. I do see that there are various 'push' techniques to push data to a web page without the user doing anything like in streaming or a chat box. Surely something can be done that is similar. Somehow to keep the connection open and keep sending responses. The VB class works now and to move the function calls to the main C# page handler would take a long time. Or perhaps I do not understand what you mean.

Found what I had to do. I had to get the target server people to trace what they were getting and tell me what was wrong. Eventually found out that I had to add the below ContentType and remove the leading "?" from the postData. None of the debugging in the .net code was of any help since without the below the postdata was being sent as 1 field and they were not returning anything if the postdata was invalid. MyWebRequest.ContentType ="application/x-wwww.form-urlencoded"

Thanks Dave. That did it. I removed the names space which was causing and conflict. It now works. It is VB. I hate languages that are case sensitive.

My guess is you can create a datatable hard coded out of the data you do have and then sort on that. You also could use generics and inherit icomparable and then use the sort method in that custom data class. My suggestion would be datatable will be easier.. And then run .sort on it. =)

I have seen this before. I have a solution open and I want to view a vb module with notepad but I double click on the modules and it defaults to Vis Studio. That module is not 'in' the solution that I have opened. I have since changed the default program on .vb, etc. to Notepad but this is a 'new' machine and for the first few weeks it was not set. Well I have no other idea how a module not related to a program can get into it, not be in the solution explorer. Anyhow, you have help me solve the problem. Thanks
