A major reason to make it bipedal is because much of our surrounding is foundationally geared towards human habitation. If all we're going to do is make these things walk about in open space then I see your point. Ultimately the goal is to have these things be among people without having to make special provision for them (think stairs, aisles, doors etc.)

ASP.NET 4.0 HostingI'm contemplating going with PremiumReseller.com VPS hosting so I can finally have full control of my server. Can anyone give me feedback on how their service rates?
-
ASP.NET 4.0 HostingOK, I know this has probably been asked before but.... Can someone recommend a decent ASP 4.0 hosting provider? It seems I'm constantly running into either horrible customer service or horrible reliability. I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest, just reasonable but GOOD. I've already given up on webhost4life (unreliable) and arvixe (terrible customer service). Oh yeah, and someone who doesn't kill you on databases too. Many only include 1 SQL Server DB and charge extra for more. I host many domains and SQL Server DBs so this is important to me.

Catch ex As Exception
' Hmmmm.....
' Obviously didn't think of something.
Throw New ApplicationException("Exception Occured")
End Try -

Filling in rat holesI used to have a terrier and it would go after any and every small living creature is could see/find/smell/suspect was in the yard. The only problem with rats and moles though is that the dog leaves your yard a disaster as they DIG for them absolutely everywhere! Expect to have no grass left when they are done. The neighbor's napalm would probably do a cleaner job! ;P

Filling in rat holesRather than trying to kill them why not use something that would repel them instead. Then they would all move to your 'nam-vet' neighbors yard where HE could shoot them and the cops wouldn't give a hoot. End of problem! :-D

text editor with the best UI (icons, windows layout)?I'm running the latest version (17.0) and it's still way too slow. I see there's a new minor rev out there now. Is that the one you're talking about?
-
text editor with the best UI (icons, windows layout)?I used to use UltraEdit exclusively but the the last few revs have gotten way too bloated. It used to be a snappy app. Even on my i7 quad-core it takes way too long to load for my taste. I have a hard time with all their non-standard icon images too.

Many companies expect 60 hours from you for the salary that is of course based on 40 hours of pay. Likewise most companies expect you to be contactable when you are vacation and some actually frown upon those who have the temerity to take vacation.
Hmmmm.... that has never been my experience. Having worked here all of my life and with MANY different large corporations, I have never found that to be the case. I do not believe you can say that is the case across the board.

Family IT SupportI had a pretty good one years ago that I still remember vividly. This one was not for family but for a good attorney friend. She called me way after hours to tell me that she desperately needed a legal document for a morning court case but the document was on her assitant's computer. The assistant had just left on vacation and could not be reached and would not be back for days. She went to her assistant's computer but could get nothing to show on the screen. It was completely black. Me: Is the computer running? Friend: Yes, the lights are on and everything. Me: Is the monitor powered on? Friend: Yes the indicator light on the monitor is on. Me: Is the monitor cable plugged into the computer. Friend: Yes. After trying about a dozen other things it still showed only a black screen. She asked if I could please come into the office and do what I could since this was so important. She would pay me for my travel (45min each way) and time. Reluctantly I drove there in the dark and got to work. I sat down and played with the monitor buttons a little and suddenly the picture appeared! To make a long story short, it turns out the assistant had left while working on a sensitive document and didn't want to leave it exposed in plain view. So of course she did the most logical secure thing... she turned the monitor brightness all the way down till is was black. Gotta love it!!

You Know You're a Web Developer When...William W. Wallbergh (alias WWW) has a wife named Ruby. She is the object if his desire. Their first date was in a field on some public property with explicit dimensions. It was a big event for him but it was not the case for her based on her response. She tries to control him even though his requirements are very strict on her. She thinks he has no class and would rather select a doctor type if given the option. They met while working on a review panel at the Washington Post back when they were fresh out of college. Next Spring they are expecting a child and WWW, true to his form, has made the request to call him Web.
