Why do you even spell this backdated item. ASP is just an old concept now, and it should be strongly rejected. ASP has never been popular and versatile enough in web. ASP.NET is much more flexible and also it runs with OOPS. Everyone here will suggest you ASP.NET. But if it is already built in PHP, you can modify it easily in ASP, whereas ASP.NET require you a bit or work. So choose according to the time given to you. From what I've read in every place I've seen, this doesn't really work, as in drawing from one thread into another thread's hwnd, at least it's not supposed to be done that way. And from my own attempts to do it before I read it windows handles got quite mixed up in the process and nice amount of asserts in MFC code. But as I wrote this was basic MFC app and cannot vouch it is totally true for you. Basicly what you would do is do the work in a thread and message the window owner to do the drawing with the params you calced.

What port number (both your side and the port that the packets are sent to)? What's the multicast address? Ethereal/Wireshark can normally tell what protocol is involved if it's a standard port. You can discover the responsible process using netstat -b (Windows XP SP2 and later). You might need to also pass the -a switch to show non-connected ports and the -n switch to get numeric results. If the socket was opened by a process that's hosting multiple services, you also get a DLL trace of the call stack when the socket was opened. Stability. Thanks. I have taken the later option, but now run against the problem where people will complain if they have to copy 2 files (the previous version was just an exe). Do you know how to add it to the resources using VS2005 Express? Yeah p4 3.06 ghz, it was smoking fast when I first got it. Then I upgraded to a SATA striped array because the hard drive was the bottleneck, now I'm back to the CPU being the major bottleneck during a big build. I guess it's time to start shopping around for a new P.C., or maybe hold off a year and get one around Vista release. I just lived through a heavy year of intense coding with what I've got now, I always seem to buy the new PC before I actually need it the most and do the most coding when I've got a system that has long since peaked as the fastest thing out there for performance in my price range. Stupid computers! :doh: I've always been an Intel man, but I guess that's anachronistic these days, I'll have to broaden my horizons. I wish someone would post build times for some sort of standard reference project that we could download and test against our system with good metrics and examples of different systems and how fast they are. Maybe a useful "open" article for CodeProject some day.
