Clarence Stowers refused to give Brandon Fizer's finger to doctors so that it could be reattached.[^] Mr. Stowers decided he wanted to keep the evidence for a potential lawsuit. He had better play his cards right or he might end up being the defendant!

The article you cited says ODAC used the Petroleum Review report, but found additional projects through 2010. Nevertheless, they still estimate the peak in 2007. Thanks for the link.

  • Oil Production Peak
    S scadaguy

A recent report published by the Petroleum Review compiles all oil projects coming online in the future. Apparently, there are 18 projects that will start producing in 2005, 11 in 2006, 3 in 2007, and 3 in 2008. According to the article there are no significant projects currently planned after 2008. As a result other reports are claiming that the peak could occur as soon as 2007. What do you think? Are the new reports on target, generally misleading, or patently overhyped?

  • Lawyer Accidently Sues Himself

Madison County, Illinois is often cited as being the lawsuit capital of the world. So it's only natural that an attorney who attempted to profit from one of the several hundred pending class-action lawsuits there accidently ended up sueing himself when a judge named him as a 3rd party defendant. The Large Hadron Collider me be powerful enough to spot gravitons as well. That is important because the graviton is the only particle according to superstring theory that can move from the 3 well known spacial dimensions into the others that the theory predicts. In other words, it is one (and perhaps the only) way of directly confirming the theory. Though, in his book The Fabric of the Cosmos, Brian Greene does mention other ways of doing it that are simply impossible with today's technology. Either way it'll be interesting to see what the LHC will have to offer to the scientific community.

I believe the government had to acknowledge its existence in the mid 90's because of some environmental lawsuit. The conspiracy theories could be orchestrated and controlled by the military has part of a large disinformation campaign to keep the public distracted. It worked well in the Roswell incident so I wouldn't be surprised if they have continued with the propaganda in recent years.

Shouldn't he pay more in taxes to the fire department than me? Actually, I know of at least one place that charges residents a fee if the fire department is called to their property. I don't know the details, but I think you can opt in to a slightly higher tax to avoid it.

Like the existing fuel tax the mile tax would be a higher percentage of the low wage earner's salary. But, I'm not sure that qualifies as a classic example of discrimination. Afterall, I don't think equality includes commuting distance. Also, right now higher wage earners are more likely to be driving the gas guzzling SUVs which would be subsidizing the tax of low wage earners who drive more fuel efficient vehicles. But then again, hybrids are more expensive and likely to be choosen by the higher wage earners. So who knows?

I think it is a good idea and that's coming from someone who would probably end up paying more in taxes. But I'm okay with that since I use roads a lot.

I'd say I have immediately become at least 50% less productive. I spend a lot of time filling out paperwork to do ridiculously simple things to systems that aren't even in production yet. So how has it affected you? Has your company put large projects on hold until the kinks are worked out? Are you less productive? Does the benefit outweigh the cost in your particular situation?
