heh, wasn't too fussed about conventions like variable naming, was more interested in if there's any reason why declaring and assigning variables like that and then just referencing them in the spot I needed would be bad practice. I think if I was gonna make a loop for it, I'd change the page from being html to php, was really just a quick exercise in me just trying to keep it simple and keep the page html rather than php

For anyone interested, just marking the partition as active again solved it... came straight back up on a reboot...

Fixed it.... had to make an invisible asp:label so I could pass the value from a controlparameter and bind the labels text property as the value... -- modified at 15:57 Wednesday 27th June, 2007 cos I'm a prat and wrote commandparameter instead of controlparameter :p

True, I guess their logic doesn't match my logic in this issue. I guess I tend to try and look at the big picture and do what will help people out in the long run. But I am not so sure that is Microsoft's objective. I am pretty sure they are in the business of making money anyway they can, but that is in part why they are so successful. Ben

Rats... was hoping to get away without having anything running on every machine... idea was to just have an old system sitting in my server room keeping an eye on things when required... I suppose it would be perfectly feasable for me to just have the client side bit of code as a very small app that can be run as a process (it won't have a GUI) when required on each client machine. programs already doing its main job which is killing MSN on certain computers when people take advantage of my relaxed nature so I don't have to block it for everyone. I could set up the firewall to block certain sites like myspace.com but again, I don't want to kill it for everyone, only the people who are abusing it, and as I'm using IPCop its a bit of a pain to turn it on and off.
