This is it. I will be doing some C++ (Arduino) and Python (Raspberry Pi). Some people flamed me for saying I didn't have time for some of those new programming management fads. They said I should work my ten hour days and then go home and study. Get a life. That is not me flaming back. It is an old man telling you that if all you have is work you really do need to get a life. You will not look back and say, "I wish I had spent more of my off hours trying to learn something that did not last a whole year." Even the great "Agile" is seldom implemented as the creators intended. I was ordered to do Dot Net and that's what I had to do. So love it or hate it that's what I got paid to do. I did do some study on my own. I found classes to be useless. Mostly learning on the fly, and Google as needed got me through. Luck with it code geeks.

My computer ran almost hour long update while I watched how tape measures are made on TV. When the computer finally booted Edge was broken. Luck provided a copy of IE so I could down load Chrome. Now I can read Dilbert cartons as God intended Windows to provide. Before the hate mails starts; I program some electronic controller projects on a Linux machine for fun. Win 10 is for Sudoku puzzles and Dilbert. So you can hate me a bit less.

I just looked at and article that compared functional programming with OOP. Seriously I just don't care. Right now I am working on recreating a program, with updates where the source code was lost. The last guy who got the job took three months and got no where so starting from scratch I have two weeks and two days to get this done and I had to finish my last project at the same time. The tester just passed the last project on to UAT. This is a full stack project from creating the DB to the UI so what the foreign object is functional programming? Don't tell me because I don't care. When do working programmers with short dead lines have time for fads? I really don't have time to write this but it needs to be said.

My son is a developer and he uses Mac. This is just to show I really don't have much of a dog in the race here. Why does everyone want to waste there time hating MS? Net Market Share reports that 84.57% of desk top operating systems are MS. I know MS. I don't have to spend hours learning more. Linux takes up a chunk of my time learning the directory/file system and how to move around in it. I don't have time for Mac. Python is in demand. I have no idea why. See if you can write a new app in Python without looking at the book. Set a task for yourself that requires logic to solve. I have 12 programming languages and use 5 of those right now. It is not easy getting into programming and luck and skill are both needed. My son got a go no where job right after a two year degree and more than doubled his salary with another company after a year. That was luck and skill.

This was around a year ago. The big name SSDs bundled cloning software did not work at all with "Winten". I called big name's tech support and they told me they were working on getting some software for that, but he didn't know when they would have it. No, he could not tell me where to get third party software, but I should "Google it!" Another tech on a second call said, "I can't tell you what to use, but I use this one." Sadly I don't remember what I used. I hooked the SSD to a USB port with a cable that was recommended for that. I just saw the cable the other day and it had USB on one end and an SATA hookup on the other. I didn't fool around with trying to hook up two drives I just took out the HDD and put in the SSD. It worked.

Lately I am seeing articles from Futurist who say that this or that is impossible. A good example would be faster than light speed travel. I'm old. I've seen everything from floor model radios to 98 inch flat screen TVs with Netflix etc. I would be afraid to say any technological advance is impossible.

My shop is in Denver Co. My office is in West Virginia. There are no other persons in my work group in WV. They won't let me work from home unless there is an emergency. All my work is remote.

I play with a Raspberry Pi. I got corrected that I should say R Pi so I get corrected frequently by the cognoscenti. My agency uses Windows computers, so at work I use Visual Studio because that is what I have to use. I use my Surface Tablet to work with my R Pi through a VPN. I had an early bad experience with Mac (correct I hope) where I had to help a local ISP in the dial-up days to get the few Apple computers on line . It was hard enough to get Win 95 on line. There were more and better instructions for MS than for Apple. My son uses Mac to code, and I am thinking of getting a Mac so that I can keep up.

I asked about using a MAC because a developer I know uses MAC. He thinks that most developers use MAC which I can not imagine that it would be that common. I'm a .NET guy so I would not have any desire to use MAC, but it can be done I'm told.
