It depends on where the joke was modified last. The Usians pick on the Poles. The English picks on the Irish, Welch, Scots, French or Germans depending on whether the subject is booze, sheep, money, war or humor. The Swedes picks on the Norwegians and vice versa. The Dutch and French picks on the Belgians. The Germans picks on everyone including themselves. And everyone picks on priests and lawyers. Light moves faster than sound. It was fine by my area. A group of 50 passed close to where I stay, but during the day I only managed to take a peak at one march. It was pretty huge, but the police and DHS response was massive. All the protesters are gone, though there is one meeting planned for tomorrow in front of my building. Still DHS / FPS vehicles around.

The following day, the Bishop decided he had to search for a bell ringer. The first man to turn up said "I am Quasimodo's brother. Please allow me to replace him." The Bishop agreed to give the man a chance to show what he could do as a bell-ringer - but as he stooped to pick up a mallet to strike the first bell, he clutched at his chest and died on the spot. Two monks, hearing the Bishop's cries of grief, rushed in. "What happened. Who is this poor man?" they cried. "I don't know his name," the Bishop said sadly, "but he's a dead ringer for his brother." harold aptroot wrote: I am still missing the point. Why don't you just explain to point instead of messing around with silly analogies? First because the analogies demonstrate that the slavery model is not just a matter of wages. Second for a full analysis you need to find some economic studies based on the decline of slavery in the US. harold aptroot wrote: But then why can't you still produce more cheaply if you don't have to pay any wages to the workforce? I would suggest reading some economic studies. But a simplisitic answer is because free people won't do that. And slaves won't produce a competitive product.

It is going to be interesting. It is probable that the Germans will ease up on their austerity demands and go for measured austerity that includes growth in order to keep the euro zone intact. (In fact the ECB has done this to a degree with its LTRO which a lot of germans were opposed to). Makes sense, the IMF were saying the same thing, Hollande wants to go this way, in fact everyone but germany. The other route I am surprised the Greeks didnt go was the the immediate devaluation of say 30%. They already had their debts cut by what, 60%? the germans want them to cut back their entire spending, if they just overnight reduced all their prices and wages by 30% they would achieve this. In the meantime capitol flight from greece is bringing their banking system to a halt, this is going to need some more LTRO form the ECB to counter. Thats going to piss the germans off even more. ============================== Nothing to say.

I watched an interesting documentary on Fred Phelps - turns out he was a civil rights lawyer helping and standing up or the rights of African American in the 60's or 70's. So even despite his current insanity there was a time when he had something of a heart - it just seems like something went terribly wrong somewhere... “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” ― Christopher Hitchens
