Chris, you should come up with an orientation site that specifically spells out the rules of the site, and then requires the user to answer a short quiz to verify that they did indeed read the orientation material. Upon successfully answering all of the questions, the user becomes a certified CP user. Here's a list of proposed questions: -------------- 1) Where do you post programming questions (check all that apply)?     a) Not the Lounge     b) The appropriate programming forum 2) Can you post programming questions in the Lounge (check all that apply)?     a) No     b) Not only no, but HELL NO 3) What kind of posts don't belong in the lounge (check all that apply)?     a) Programming questions     b) Questions about programming     c) C++/C#/Pascal/Cobol/Java/PHP/ASP/PL1/Assembly/RPG/Fortran (basically, any programgram language) programming questions 4) If you're about to post a programming question in the lounge you should (check all that apply):     a) Not do it     b) Don't even think about it     c) Set fire to to your keyboard before you make that mistake 5) If you post programming questions in the lounge you should expect the following treatment (check all that apply):     a) Name calling     b) General insults regarding parental heritage     c) Suggestions regarding your diminutive IQ     d) Physical descriptions that include the phrases "sloped-foreheaded"         and "open-mouth-breathing"     e) Observations that include your inability to funtion independantly in         society outside your asylum dormatory without having         someone hold your fucking hand ------------- Other users are hereby invited to contribute to the quiz...

That's dangerously close to a programming question. :)

ooooh, I like that one. Then, when he invariably complains about the site's lack of responsiveness, we can tell him it's because the site is being bogged down by programming questions being posted in the lounge. LOL

LOL :-D Instead of keeping the user in the dark, I'd prefer to make him understand exactly why the site is being sent to him in Dumbass Mode(tm), complete with large red fonts and blink tags. For every additional programming question posted in the lounge, double the time delay and the font size. And blink speed.

I've just done the morning lounge cleanup and was thinking the same thing. The most frustrating thing is that there are guys here who *know* the lounge is meant for non-programming chat yet they are posting programming questions. I'm just looking into the System.TarAndFeathers namespace to see if there's something that may help cheers, Chris Maunder

I hope you're not talking about my conversation with Marc and Jorgen about LINQ. Conversations about new technology are fine, aren't they?

That's on the edge of being a programming discussion. Is LINQ a Microsoft technology?
