Vista Gutted Like a Trout?

From the June 12 edition of MSDN Flash: From the Editor Name change department: InfoCard is now CardSpace, and WinFX is now the .NET Framework 3.0. You'll be seeing the old names for a while, but now you know what's coming down the pike. Do I read this correctly? It sounds like WinFX is being dropped (as quietly as possible), and the .NET Framework is being left essentially as-is. After six years, does Vista have nothing new except a bit of eye candy? An utter, complete fiasco! David Veeneman www.veeneman.com

WinFX is just being renamed to .NET 3.0. Still has the stuff in it. Not too unreasonable, given most of it is backwards compatible with XP. Ryan

Everything's still there - they've just got renamed :-) The only thing that has been delayed is the Vista file system layer. Regards, Nish

No, WinFx and all its components are now included under the .NET Framework 3.0 label. So .NET 3.0 has Indigo etc. inside it. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you
eh, stop bugging me about it, give it a couple of days, see what happens.

Renaming stuff is a complete fiasco? You must work for the Department of Overreactions, producers of Y2K Hysteria and Lucas Raped My Childhood.

Nice flame. You must have a lot of friends. Virtually everything that has been promised in Vista has been pulled. I'd list them for you, but I assume you are competent enough to look them up for yourself. I'm not buying this latest story about "it's just a name change". But then perhaps you belong to the Department of Gullible Sheep who Eat Whatever is Fed to Them. And on January 1, 2000, I was in London for the Millenium party. Air fares were incredibly cheap, due to the morons who thought planes would fall out of the sky. You want a flame war, bring it on. I'll match you flame for flame. Just remember who started it. Can you list them for me? I'm incredibly incompetent. I don't even know how to spell "Google".

Virtually is the right word, to which I could reply: hey man, virtually everything is delivered as promised!

Well, in this case you should. Indigo is still there, still works great, you should check out the WinFX SDK. Avalon is still there, still works great, you should check out the WinFX SDK. There was a 3rd exiting thing I can't remember right now, but it's there too! ---- The law student then replied, "Okay. I'd tell him `I hereby give and convey to you all and singular, my estate and interests, rights, claim, title, claim and advantages of and in, said orange, together with all its rind, juice, pulp, and seeds, and all rights and advantages with full power to bite, cut, freeze and otherwise eat, the same, or give the same away with and without the pulp, juice, rind and seeds, anything herein before or hereinafter or in any deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding...'" -- modified at 9:25 Tuesday 13th June, 2006
