I woke up this morning after dreaming about the LHC. I have no life! But I was thinking - it's really big (why isn't it the RBHC?) but they are just smashing particles together.. or so they tell us. In my dream we were putting all sorts of stuff in there. The only one I remember was Pizza. Two pizzas at near light speed .. WHAMMO .. and the cheese got into he magnets, and that was the end of that. So, in the interests of wasting a few minutes - what would you put in the LHC, and why?

See, that's why I can't accept it. The idea of a particle being massless is unintuitive and unacceptable to me. Everything must have a mass, no matter how small. Infinitesimally small is not massless.

That's probably one of the least unintuitive things about quantum mechanics. :)

Maybe so, but I just can't accept it. God creating a universe about nothing.

That's my take on it, the God/Higher Power that created quantum mechanics is an a**hole.

Hey now. You be nice George. We may just not be smart enough to understand it all yet. Give it time.

Actually, I'm not sure our species is capable of understanding it all. :sigh:

Probably not. Dolphins will evolve a million years from now and advance way beyond what primates did.

Fairy cake and a really, really, strong brownian motion generator (such as a cup of tea).

CTRL and ALT to one side and DEL to other side(assuming that LHC is using Windows 95) to save the world. ;P

There's a really fat and grumpy lady in our office. Suppose I could add a wall for her to colide with... How big is this thing again?

We should put another LHC in the LHC. Both should run particles in the same direction to break the speed of light (before Usain Bolt beats us to it!!). Who's with me?

Depends whether you read or listen. Either trying to find our place in the universe, or simply trying to recreate it.

Was it Golden Grahams or some cheesy cracker snack that used to have commercials concerning how they were able to fit so much of the appropriate flavor into such a small bit of food? Well, now we know how they did it. But they obviously built a better one, and handed the old one down to the physicists, I guess....
