Hi Captain C Sharp, I do not believe either you, or Brother Dave, is an idiot when you are sober :) best, Bill

"Many : not conversant with mathematical studies, imagine that because it [the Analytical Engine] is to give results in numerical notation, its processes must consequently be arithmetical, numerical, rather than algebraical and analytical. This is an error. The engine can arrange and combine numerical quantities as if they were letters or any other general symbols; and it fact it might bring out its results in algebraical notation, were provisions made accordingly." It's funny how they feel 'pity' for us for being a teetotaler. Have you felt that? :)

Every time you get drunk and make a joke out of yourself publicly like you just did, I wonder if you feel ashamed or proud of yourself, after you're sober. I have no idea. :)

I feel no shame, I merely out drunk the next guy. It is a cultural thing. The Irish in me forces me to drink, and to never leave while a friend is at the bar!

I was wondering how you feel about what others might think of you after such an 'incident' that repeats itself occasionally. Never mind, now you say it's a cultural thing. Don't take it for anything wrong, I always enjoy reading your posts (some of them). But these drunk posts are pathetic and shows you in poor light. May be you should refrain from using CP when you're drunk. But that's just my opinion. :)

You were in the Army? I hadn't known. But an army and 'round is a shape' idea doesn't go well together, do they?. Or is this shape a new thing that you acquired after leaving the army? What kind of work did you do in the army? How long did you serve?

Just say that you are driving. In the UK I get the feeling that it is becoming more acceptable not to drink, but I guess it depends on which company you keep.

I totally agree, and when sober I think it best. However, when drunk, that control is lost and I just post. I am neither ashamed nor proud of myself. I am me, what I do is a function of who I am. I harm no-one, I just like the socialising and rubbish that is spoken. If I have ever upset or insulted you whilst drunk, then I apologise, for I prefer to upset and insult people whilst I am sober! :)

I agree I like to remember when I have got in a good dig at someone. However you do not sound (on CP anyway) like a belligerent drunk so I think you have no need to apologise. I just wish you would keep off the keyboard after 5 pints, your spelling degrades rather dramatically.

Bless you Dave, you complete piss head. I shall write to the Pope forthwith and demand that you be canonised as the Patron Saint of Piss-Heads. (If I get an invite, will obviously take equipment for repainting the Sistine Chapel).

Maybe you should remove CP from your password manager and log out before you go to the pub. As plastered as you are afterwards logging in would prove an insurmountable barrier to drunk posting.

It's funny how they feel 'pity' for us for being a teetotaler. Have you felt that? :)

Pity, scorn, and more has been heaped on me for not making an a$$ of myself. There's an irony in here....
