I don't remember the keyword, but I believe that you can tell VB, since at least VB6, what is the first index in an array.

Well before that. Temps(32,212) was around since before there was VB

It works 4 me. I've written several apps for my own use in VB and they do quite well. Even got decent votes on a couple of articles.

        Then stick with it.

In truth, I'm one of a comparative handful of "victims" of a weird bug that keeps me from using VS to create new C# projects. I always get an "Access Denied" error.

If that were true, then shouldn't I be getting similar errors with VB and ASP.Net? They work fine. It's only C#, and VS recognizes me as Administrator.

MS has received tons of info, from me and a number of others.

        You forgot Actionscript. :)

Because I do occasionally enjoy learning something new. At present I'm neck-deep in PHP and like it better and better.

When you're dis'n VB, it doesn't matter, but the 0-index thing is obviosuly not in reference to the .Net version... At this point in the game, I really shouldn't have to resort to establishing street cred where knowledge of VB is concerned. :)

I'm a little ticked off with you, especially if you are serious about this decision. I think you are having a bad time right now in your life maybe and the crap that goes on at this site has pushed you over the edge a bit. Completely understandable. Take a little time off like CG did. I want you to know that a programmer friend of mind sits about 10 feet away from me and codes straight VB/VB.Net/VBA and he makes about 70-75K a year...not bad in my book. The retards that tease other people about VB constantly are just that, retards and they probably live from paycheck to paycheck. --My thoughts about you leaving.

I'm leaving, just had enough. There are others who have left without saying but I decided I owe it to the good folks here (Chris, Pete, DD, DaveAuld, Griff and others) to say why. Basically there is an element of blatant elitism that turns into attacks/ridicule on others whether it be blondes or Visual Basic. I have been told to my face I can't do my job because of my hair colour wirth response that I should just live with it or sink to their level. Also Visual Basic, whether it is VBA or VB.NET, has it's place for different users yet some here decide they can ridicule anyone who touches it. These are two examples of an underlying attitude I do not wish to be associated with so goodbye everyone and take care. I have asked Chris to delete my account. Elaine :rose:

Let me start by saying I hope you reconsider. You may not want to hear that from me after our exchange yesterday regarding blonde jokes. It was insensitive of me to carry on like that with you. While I still believe in my point of view, it is obvious to me that you are sensitive when it comes to that subject. If I were conversing with you in person, I'm certain I would not have pressed the matter. However, one of the great things about Code Project is that we can push beyond those artificial boundaries in society and really get into the meat of an issue. I'm sorry if my pushiness is one of the reasons you are leaving. But that is your choice, so do what you must. If the others are right and you are experiencing some personal issues (I am not aware of any specifics) you are working through, I hope you will just take a break from Code Project rather than leave for good. Maybe it would help if you remember not only the bad times, but the good times as well (times it sounds like you've had with Chris, Pete, DD, DaveAuld, Griff, ...). By the way, I code primarily in VB.NET and the CEO/President of the company I work for (5,000+ employees and locations around the world, the leader in the industry) is a blonde woman. Just thought I'd throw that out there. If this really is your last post, I wish you well, but I wish you'd reconsider even more. :rose:

If that were true, then shouldn't I be getting similar errors with VB and ASP.Net? They work fine. It's only C#, and VS recognizes me as Administrator.

And now we go from a simple, civil discussion to rudeness and condescension. I don't recall asking you to diagnose anything. It's been my experience here and in other forums that the best way to terminate a conversation is to cease conversing. If you did not wish to continue the thread, all you needed to do was stop responding. Then again tact, civility and restraint all require a certain amount of maturity. Feel free to respond if you feel the need to have the last word. I'm sure someone will read it.
