That stuff looks a bit dodgy. Zyban was suggested by my doctor, and from Wikipedia it appears to be not as controversial as Chantrix.

My advise to you, is to NOT use drugs to kick this habit. These drugs have been known to have some really f'd up side effects and you don't need the gamble now in your life.

What side-effects did you have? I have a slight feeling of nausea and restlessness, but that is about all for now.

I had nausea and a bad headache. This did not pass...ever, so I quit the patch completely. Regarding the gum: I would get a little headache from the first chew/gum of the day but it was smooth sailing after that. I followed the program that came with the gum...gradually weening off to the end (approx. 3 months time). I really hope this works out for you. By the way, having friends that smoke, does not help in any way and will almost always make your road to recovery impossible. Something to think about.

Lucky I dont have many friends, and very little of them still smoke. I am also not a social creature anymore, so I dont go out to drinking holes much (if at all).

Using patches. Can't see myself going cold turkey. I might wind down the strength of the patches sooner than the suggested 3 months.

Been smoking since 1990. Currently on about 13 cigarettes a day. Today, I stop. Got the Nicorette patch[^] on. The craving seems to be dealt with quite good. Just the habit of enjoying it is hard. Cheated a little by having 3 puffing sessions on a single cigarette, but that was all. It kinda tastes a bit weak now, no kick :( Maybe I should find a pencil to chew on :) I give some feedback next week.

You should put the number of days in your sig. The visibility of the performance may help resisting the temptation.

Good luck you will feel a lot better for it.

I don't agree - the fact that you are telling us means you are accountable and you have all our support (at least mine). I wish you all the best and just keep repeating to yourself when times get hard, "I am an ex-smoker".

If cannabis were legal you would have in your hands by prescription the easiest way in the world to quit smoking tobacco.

Well, you're still on the nicotine, if/when you quit that, prepare to get backed up. Badly!
