I'm always watching CNN, but they never show what REALLY happen here, in Israel. You think I should post such pictures here too? The problem with "this place falling into the same mess" isn't because of people that aren't hobbled some false sense of morality or decency, it's because of the fuckwads (like Samer12 and IrishCoffee9) that are allowed to join/stay. We were doing just fine before the influx of idiots we've seen over the last 12 months. Now, we have barely literate assholes stirring shit up on the lounge, ignoring the posting rules, and generally degrading the overall quality of articles we see. The question that I have is where and when were these pictures taken? And what actually harmed these people, it could have been anti aircraft fire falling back to earth. There was obviously no shortage of metal being thrown into sky over the last few days. It is possible that these were innocent people killed by Iraqi fire or by the Coalition by accident. I think that once this is over, the truth will be more obvious. Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

Here is a problem, John. All faithful CP members like to see its growth. 100,000 members! 500,000 members! 10,000,000 members! :) But this growth comes at a price. I agree that the quality of postings degraded - in my opinion, of course, I can't be an objective judge. But isn't this a price for popularity? Isn't it too optimistic to hope we can grow up to a million members without losing in quality of our discussions? The Iraqi regime has plenty of viciously killed civilians to photograph and present to the world. Most of them were killed by Sadaam before this or any other war. I am not shocked or disgusted by these pictures, I am angered by them. These pictures are being presented as evidence of the atrocity of the US against the Iraqi people with absolutely no objectivity. I can appreciate other people’s views and opinions, but when you show no objectivity or even concern for others and try to push your twisted view of the world on others, I draw a line. I don’t believe for one moment that you truly care about the Iraqi people, because if you did, you would be presenting an objective view of reality. Include pictures of Iraqi’s killed, raped or dismembered by Sadaam. Talk about the value of human life, discuss the potential for real disarmament, potential future wars, etc. Just don’t show how stupid you really are by presenting totally non-objective materials with no supporting evidence. Please find a better use for your time and intellect or at the very least post this crap in the Soapbox. Matt Gullett PS. It looks like you signed up for CP just to post this crap. Go away.

South Africa is a bit of a paradox most of the time. Infrastructure, business, economics, goods, cities etc. are all very westernised. Apart from the tube London has virtually nothing that Cape Town or Joburg does not. That is because of apartheid where 5million whites ruled 40million non-whites. The whites came mainly from Europe and so have European ways (even though the Dutch (Afrikaans) are quite different to us English whites.) Now things have changed. The majority is aboriginal Africans, blacks. Then there is a big sector of coloureds (a race formed from whites sleeping with blacks.) Also plenty of Indians and Malays. Not that many Arabs, but some. Religion wise it is either Christianity or Islam. The Muslims are rather vocal. Christianity is obviously related to western ways, and since most South Africans don't like the yanks or poms very much they naturally side with the ME and the East. Also remember our president and former president are great pals with the likes of Gadafi and other fun characters. Anyway so the plan is to get rid of depending on the west for news. Unfortunatley without the western media there is very few alternatives. Obviously far east stuff is worthless here. So it falls to the ME. Aljazeera. They had a trial run the other night. It was horrific. Had a chap speaking in Arabic or whatever with subtitles in another Arab language. Then they had a voice over of some Arab translating the Arabic into English. But it was a horrendous translation, understood about 1/3 of what he said. I think the plan is to switch to BBC, yay!, and Aljazeera, sigh, in a 50/50 split.
