Hello. This is no fun but I wonder if there is a public web-searchable - or other "inquire-able" - way to find out if a person has been incarcerated in the state of New York. And if he/she is not, could such inquiries/searches get this person into any trouble? A person dear to me, across the Atlantic, has vanished from the face of the earth. Thanks a bunch.

If he is not a US citizen I would contact his citizenship's embassy.

Give this a try: Instant Checkmate | Background Checks, Arrest Records and Public Records[^] - it's surprising what it can find, apparently! [edit] Forget it - they want money for the report before you are even sure it's the person you wanted, ratehr than someone with a similar name and state. [/edit]

Looks like regularly scheduled maintenance intervals. 15 minutes on weekdays, 60 on weekends. :rolleyes: It'd be interesting to see if it'a actually always down the interval, or just that they're not promising anything during that time period.

Living in NYC is indistinguishable from incarceration, but with the disadvantage that you don't turn up on any search engine (unless you're the tweety type), and nobody gives you food for free. (with apologies to the OP, sorry about your loved one's misfortune)
