Australia floats about quite a bit, all those corks around it are the reason... so a couple hundred years ago it was in the west. Thats when all the whiteys hoped aboard the Goal Express, the chaps in charge then decided to see what was down under the Earth and headed for it's current position. They must have dinged into South Africa at one point because lord do we have a beef with them. Next time they head past we are sending our swimming team over to give them hell. Seriously though... from all the Aussies I have met I would say it is the west but without business suits.

Thanks. I'm not one that has ever been too interested in politics so the statement about attacking westerners and then it being Australians definitely seemed strange to me. Ok. That was my 5 minutes in the sunshine. Back to the mines for me for another month until I again emerge and ask something else equally inane about the world around me :) Cheers, Tom Archer Inside C#,

lol!! I'm not really against monarchy in all it's forms ... just ours! If ours resembled that of Denmark or Norway, I wouldn't mind quite so much.

And if you were in theirs, you'd probably like ours :). Everything looks better from the outside than it does from the inside. I personally don't really care one way or the other. I wouldn't say suit wearing was the norm in the UK software industry. It's only likely if you meet customers or work for the software section of a bank. My wife reckons that Australia is more strict on suit wearing and smart dress.

Have you guys taken the Queen off your currency yet? I keep forgetting to ask my uncle who has lived down there for 35 years or so now. I loved it when that whole argument about The Queen being sovereign was raging. Bloody silly, but then I'd behead her and her whole entourage if I could get away with it

At the moment we get a public holiday in June to celebrate the Queen's birthday (this is nowhere near the real date of her birthday BTW). A nice long weekend. At the last vote for a Republic, no mention was made of the Queen's birthday public holiday being replaced with a Presidents Day publc holiday. Vote failed to get the numbers. Hence...we need the Queen or we lose a public holiday. :) Jeff Green - Greentrees All pigs fed and ready to fly jefgre@tpg.com.au MSN: jefgre@tpg.net.au
