I hate Apple just enough to not care abuot this. Mostly because I hate Steve Jobs, but also because I've found my iPod to be an unreliable device at the best of times. I'm selling it on ebay and buying an iRiver. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Claims it is easy to use and never fails to function. I haven't bought for myself yet, but the iRiver line will get a very serious look from me. Chris Meech I am Canadian. It actually is quite buddhist. I was discussing that with my pastor one day. He claimed that without the Holy Spirit, one could not fully achieve the facets of love listed in 1 Corinthians 13. I went up to him after the sermon and got him to acknowledge that the buddhists have similar principles and that a buddhist priest could indeed devote his entire life to studying love and become that loving. My pastor corrected himself the next week. :)

The articles on this are a little misleading. The actual inventor of the invention covered by the patent didn't work for Apple but for a design company, which was hired by Apple to design the iPod. By default this invention would go to the inventor's employer, in this case the design company, not Apple. Clearly, some enterprising soul at Microsoft realized the patent had not been filed and Microsoft quickly purchased the patent rights to the design from the design company. The failure of Apple was not to anticipate that outsourcing their designs might result in patentable inventions and to have stipulated in all contracts that such inventions would be assigned to Apple. I suspect Apple is now spending a lot of money scouring it's contract portfolio and ammending contract agreements to cover this. (Which could backfire; smart companies will play Apple off of Microsoft and make out like bandits.) Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

Right. But my pastor was asserting that non-Christians, not imbued with the Holy Spirit (not Christ...the Spirit) in the way Peter and the Apostles were in Acts, are unable to achieve the level of agape love layed out in 1 Corinthians. So while I would agree that Romans 1:20 is right in saying that men are without excuse because the nature of God can be seen in all creation, I would disagree that all men have been imbued with the Spirit from birth...otherwise there wouldn't have been any change when Peter and the Apostles received the Spirit and started witnessing to the crowd in tongues.

We don't disagree. Note that I said the "light of Christ". That's very different from the "Holy Ghost" or "Holy Spirit". The "light of Christ" can be loosely described as one's "conscience". So while someone might not be able to love someone as deeply with the charity that Christ is talking about without the Holy Spirit, that someone will still "know" through the light of Christ that it's better to love than to hate. Everyone is born with the "light of Christ", but not with the "Holy Spirit." The Holy Spirit only comes after conversion and baptism.

Of course. If I were to hate everybody who disagrees with what I believe...I'd hate most of the people on the planet. Heck...even some within my church don't agree with some of the finer points of my doctrinal beliefs. It's pointless to get all worked up over religious differences.
