Movable Type isn't just a single perl script. It is a multi-user blogging system (I thought it reminded me of a site I'd used when I set it up and that is indeed what plinky.com is using - no plug intended) Setting it up under windoze was relatively easy. Copy the mt directory to somewhere under the web server's document root, modify the httpd.conf, add a perl module or too as required by the config cgi (it tells you what's missing), and fix the #! lines in the cgi's for windoze. Setting up a new user via the register link requires that outgoing mail is working properly. Had to search in the online documentation for the config file settings it needs for SMTP. Took me a grand total of 45 minutes, never having installed/configured MT before. I did take the easy route and used SQLite instead of trying Mysql or Postgresql (both are currently on my windoze box though) Installation under linux would be easier, no editing all those cgi's by hand (not really enough for a script for a single time install but the creators could have included one...)

Oooh, I can add to this one. Last week a regular overnight MS update went wild and caused my VS2010 to crash at its splash screen, even in safe mode. Event Viewer said it was an internal .net problem, with clr.dll. Not good. So I rolled those updates back, rebooted, and was okay. A coworker of mine was not so lucky. The updates caused her Windows 7 to BSOD at *its* splash screen, repeatedly. Had to ship it back to tech support for reinstallation of the whole thing. Since the whole interbun was not alight with similar complaints, we think it was caused by the particular whole-disk encryption that my company uses. But still... seems really sloppy. Jason

A quick search reveals it is RealView Compilation Tools, and to fix it my best bet would be to install it I imagine, but I'm just guessing. Maybe some of this will lead you further: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/RVCT[^] http://www.arm.com/products/tools/software-tools/rvds/arm-compiler.php[^] Hope this is of use - I'd be interested to hear if you get this working - please let us know!

You might want to ask in a Perl forum/site. sr159 wrote: I need to open the perl files in design mode so that i can make any changes in design layout And why exactly do you think you "need" to do that? I suspect Perl isn't doesn't fit that as nicely as something like C# does. I would also suspect that perl created without that idiom isn't going to be well suited to such a use even if something supports it.

Old school so I don't know specifically what the following expression does foreach $excomb(@excomb) But I certainly can guess. It iterates through the array putting a value into $excomb And it would certainly seem reasonable to me that you would want to actually use $excomb somewhere. Say in the following statement. But you don't. @tarray=split(/\t/, @excomb); (Even if the specifics are wrong I am almost certain that using the array there is not what you want.)

Thanks Mika. As both you and Luc suggested, using AS worked by referencing the existing ID's. I'd much rather not do it that way but when I try to insert a record with no ID my table does not update. I'll try to figure that out latter since I can get by with Aliasing for now. ;)
