Have you followed this up with CP and if so what was the response? regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Crikey! ain't life grand?

This was the last contact I had from Chris. After this, nothing.

    Hi Daniel,

I spent a bit of time going and back and forth and the company's that
originally promised the prizes had indicated they had sent the email but have
since pulled out of sponsoring the competition. I've all but given up trying to
get anything out of them so if you send me your T-shirt size and address I'll
    send you a consolation prize.

    cheers,
    Chris Maunder

BTW, I too didn't receive none of my November competition prizes yet.
I sent you 3 e-mails about this, and you sent me a confirmation e-mail
about it. But since then, silence.

IMHO the competition stuff is a joke, and no one really cares. It have NO visibility, and I know several people that said it was impossible to find stuff about the competitions, and how they work. Also, I offered some software I have made, to Chris, that he could use as prizes in the competitions, but he turned the offer down with a "We only want developer products as prizes". Huh! If I won I would love any software that might be usefull, not only developer products... As it is now, I suggest they shut down the competition stuff, and turn it back on sometime when they have time/resources to fully support it! And now I'll watch the flames when people see this post ;) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" ShotKeeper, my Photo Album / Organizer Application[^]

True, which is also totally unfair. Admittedly I don't use digitals photos but the prize would be useful to give someone else as a present. Regardz Colin J Davies

I think this thread underscores why Chris doesn't want any donations. People start to feel they own the site and thus have a right to tell Chris how to run the site. If I offered Chris something as a prize and he didn't take it, I wouldn't feel hurt or miffed. It is his business what he uses for prizes. We have every right offer, but what he does with our offers should mean anything. It isn't as if he was the least bit nasty about it. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

If a site offers a prize and it can't deliver, it should at least give you something of equal (or greater) value. Jeez, the site's owned by Dundas. If you scroll down the page at http://www.codeproject.com/script/competitions/monthly/winners.asp, you'll see that I "received" a Dundas Chart for .NET - Professional Edition ($699), and a "ScriptWorx - Web based HTML editor - SoftLite"($399). :sigh: Then, everything was changed to a T-shirt as a consolation prize, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. For obvious reasons I didn't follow up sending Chris a ton of "where's my T-shirt" e-mails... Yes, even I am blogging now!

Why did you and Marc create the RealDevs site? Why should I want to use the site when Codeproject exists? Regards, Björn Morén Stockholm, Sweden

We wanted our own site, and we wanted to do it different from CP. We have a more moderated environment, where articles are reviewed before they are posted and stuff like that. I'm not saying we are better or worse than other sites, I just hope we are a bit different ;) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" If you scroll down the page at http://www.codeproject.com/script/competitions/monthly/winners.asp, you'll see that I "received" a Dundas Chart for .NET - Professional Edition ($699), and a "ScriptWorx - Web based HTML editor - SoftLite"($399). :sigh: Then, everything was changed to a T-shirt as a consolation prize, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. For obvious reasons I didn't follow up sending Chris a ton of "where's my T-shirt" e-mails... Yes, even I am blogging now!

You didn't even get the Dundas stuff? This means that they kinda pulled out, I mean, its just to send some software in an email X| I would love to hear what David has to say about this, but well, I guess we will never know. - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" I've all but given up trying to get anything out of them so if you send me your T-shirt size and address I'll send you a consolation prize. Now that seriously blows. If a site offers a prize and it can't deliver, it should at least give you something of equal (or greater) value. Jeez, the site's owned by Dundas. They could give you their tools and it wouldn't cost them a dime! That's really inexcusable. Cheers, Tom Archer "Use what talents you possess.
