How did you take the news of Rudd being deposed? IIRC, you are/were a huge fan of K-Rudd, so I thought you'd be devastated? Unless, of course, you like the 2nd sexiest woman in Australia.... ;)

Cheers, Vikram. (Got my troika of CCCs!)

I did like Kevin Rudd, but not so much nowadays and certainly less than Julia Gillard. :-D I definitely didn't see it coming though. I chalked that up to my almost complete lack of interest in politics at first, but it seems to have been unexpected for all. ;P

I just got a wee message from Pete asking where I was and what I was upto these days. I'm still around. I'm not dead yet. I've had a rather eventful year and I pretty much executed a handbreak turn on my life and I'm now going in a new (and finally, the correct) direction. Now the screaching of tyres has ceased and the smoke has cleared. Long story short, I finally figured out what was wrong in my life: I was in denial which was causing me mental stress. I have now accepted who I am and have come out the closet. I also found a boyfriend who is loving and caring and we are trying to build a life together. Anyway, you can find more details on my blog: Coming out of the closet[^] You can also follow me on twitter: @ColinMackay[^] On the software development front, I've just finished organising my third Software Development Conference in Scotland and I'm still involved with Scottish Developers. I also do the occasional talk (Mostly on SQL Injection Attacks) So, hello again.... And I'll try and spend more time here again soon. :-D

I'm glad you felt able to do this and it a hell of a lot of man points for facing something that has been buried so deep. Mind you, it did make me think of that episode of Taggart when Fraser came out - an episode with typical Glaswegian humour in it!

I tried to get to your SQL Injection talk at nebytes, but client commitments got in the way, so I thought I'd try and check in with you in other ways. Colin, this is huge news and I'm delighted that you have found yourself in a way that fulfils you and that you are in a loving relationship. Don't be a stranger now.

I've compensated for the univoting little homophobe. What an ignorant little bigoted shit.

I know this is old, but I was wondering why we hadn't seen anything from Colin since June, and came across this thread (the last time we heard from Colin). Question: Is it any less bigoted to be gay (or even not gay) and think anyone who doesn't agree with the lifestyle is somehow mentally deficient (aka "bigot/homophobe")? I don't personally agree with the lifestyle, but I don't think that makes me a bigot *or* a homophobe. If anything, it makes me "conservative". Everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless of what kind of label other people seem to want to attach to that opinion. Whoever voted a 1 on this message was just expressing their opinions without getting into a shouting match, and to be quite honest, I really don't remember if I voted in this thread at all (but I don't recall doing so). Just saying...

I'm surprised you found this given that the reply was to POH as opposed to you. Are you actively seeking out my recent posts? Should I feel special? Am I being considered for some sort of award? and you're just verifying my worthiness? :Do I need to send you my mailing address? :) Completely OT: You know what would make a cool CP award? Each year someone new wins in (that hasn't won it before). The Leg Lamp from A Christmas Story. A suitable engraved plaque could be sent along with it stating the reason for the award, the name of the person that won it, and the year. :)

Colin Angus Mackay's name came up in a mailing list I participate in and I wondered where he'd gone to. This thread was one of his last on CP.
