  • Internet connection on win mobile 5.0 emulator

Another way to enable internet connection: * Open 'Emulator Properties' window using File->Configure menu. * go to the network tab and check the 'Enable NE2000 PCMCI Network adaptor and bind to' chekcbox. * select your machine's NIC card from the listbox. * if you get a notification to setup proxy setting, choose anything and it should work. • auto_ptr array
    A ankita patel 0

As you have already discovered auto_ptr is not designed to work as an array of pointers. There are multiple solutions to your problem and they are described in the below links. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cpp/COAP.aspx[^] http://www.gotw.ca/gotw/042.htm[^] If you are just interested finding out how auto_ptr can be used with an array then above links are suffice. but in real use, you might want to take a look at the boost smart pointer library. you can also use the shared_ptr as it is designed to work with STL containers. • IIM or ISB
    A ankita patel 0

I have not done any research on IIM vs ISB. but from what i have heard, IIM is more suitable for fresh graduates or for people with little work experience. where as ISB is more for people with few years of field experience and want to fast track their career with a fast paced 1 year program. Though i guess IIM also offers the 1 year executive MBA program, but not sure what is the admission criteria for that. Ankita

  • What is the role of QA in your eyes?
    A ankita patel 0

I have worked in QA for some years and now working in development. To answer your question, as others here have said QA's job is to find a problem and report it as accurate as possible and not to attempt the fix. That's very first and basic requirement, but it could be lot more then that depending on the product and the company. In your case, if they are simply testing UI it will be very helpful if you listen to their proposed solutions, at least from the usability point of view. As testers are the one using the products most within the company and are trained (or at least should be) to look at the product from the customer's point of view. That said it should only be considered as constructive feedback not the solution. I work for the company that makes network test equipments and for us QA's job is even more involved. They are more involved in finding out the cause of the problem as it could be any of the network issues including the other vendor equipments and QA engineers are more familiar with those equipments. • Working hours in big financial organizations
    A ankita patel 0

I have no experience working for a financial organization or working in singapore. But a friend of mine is working in financial industry as a software developer. she worked in singapore for a couple of year and she said it is very normal to have 12 to 15 hours of workday. everybody put that many hours. But when she moved to New York, she was very surprised to see normal working hours and as a matter of fact she was bored for sometimes initially :) so i guess it's the culture of the country and not the industry. You can not leave politics aside. As currency values are very much affected by the political and economical stability of the country. south asian economies are not yet that stable and maintaining common currency will be very hard or say impossible at least for now. Ankita

Hi Nish, Try getting a secure credit card. Any of the bank would approve a secure credit card with very limited credit on it, as long as you have enough money to cover it in a bank account with them. And just use that credit card for your regular bill payments for few months and you will have enough credit to get a regular credit card. Ankita

  • Is that true? Question to all Indian CPians
    A ankita patel 0

yes, you are right. service and retail has been very much influenced by the growth in IT. And probably IT is the formost sector to bring in the foreign investment. But there are other parts of the economy which are growing very fast too. Like health care, automobile, manufacturing, biotech etc. Manufacturing sector got 75% increase in FDI in last 2 years. Government policies (in last 10 - 15 years) in opening the markets and encouraging privatization has helped a lot. even with low litercy rate, because of the high population india already had high number of educated people and open competitive market provided the opportunity. • Is that true? Question to all Indian CPians

    Hi,

    Corinna John wrote:

    > 50% of all indians cannot read and write properly.

I don't know the current data, but this wikipedia link Literacy In India[^] gives the data from 2003. And according to it India has achieved 61% - 73% litercy rate from the 12% at the time of Independence. (it's been almost 60 years) And I think it's a very good progress, though lot to do yet. And there are lots of government program to improve it. And just by achieving litercy is not going to reduce the poverty. IMHO, Poverty would be the bigger problem for india then litercy in coming years. Lots of other factors population, corruption, politics are the reasons, but the hope is it's changing fast. And change doesn't come overnight. One more thing i want to point out is outside india people see only the IT industry beign the sole growth industry. But it's not true. Lots of other sectors are growing really fast lately for example health care, turism and retail etc. Ankita

  • Who loves their career? [modified]
    A ankita patel 0

what i love about this career, is that there is so much to learn. There is something new in every problem or project you are working on. At least if a job or project gets to the point of being boring, you could always try to find a new one, which will for sure bring in something new to learn, some new problem to solve and some new headaches too :) Ankita
