Free version control systems with good VC.NET IDE integrationI use Subversion with TortoiseSVN. It's not integrated into Visual Studio but it's great. I think there's a plugin for VS called AnkhSVN to work with subversion but I'm not sure how well it works. I've used CVS in the past with TortoiseCVS without problems but we've switched to Subversion now.

New MS source code repository appWe've been thinking about investing in SourceGear Vault here. Not sure if it's in the budget though :((

Linux not the cheaper optionHow much would it cost to convert a medium sized company from Windows servers to Linux? Your current admin staff would have to be retrained or replaced. Applications would have to be converted or rewritten. Linux is fine for running a web server on but beyond that it gets a little tricky. BTW, I've got a red hat server running here for bugzilla and cvs too. :)

MCAD/MCSD worth it??It's gotten me into a few interviews that I might not have gotten into otherwise. Not sure it's worth the time and expense though.

Nader announces he will run for president againThe electoral college is the problem I have with things. The majority usually does win the election but shouldn't the majority win every election? What's the point of democracy if the voice of the people is ignored?

Nader announces he will run for president againTerry O`Nolley wrote: In the history of the United States of America, there have been only a tiny handful of general elections in which the elected president failed to also win a popular vote victory. Thus, anyone who claimed that "The majority has no bearing on who gets elected" would have to be an absolute idiot. Ah, the acceptance of mediocrity. No smell is quite so sweet. Ever thought of getting a job with Microsoft? Then you can say "That bug appears in only a tiny handful of situations." You have a long career in front of you in marketing.

I'm not sure if you are agreeing with him or not but I believe by breaking out the high school text it proves he was correct in his statement that the majority doesn't always win the presidential election.

Developer SalariesAlso depends on what part of the country you're in. I live in South Carolina and there's about $10K difference from the city I'm in and a nearby city (30 minutes apart). Not only that but salaries go up another $10k or more just another hour and a half down the road. It all comes down to industry... of the three cities the one with the largest average salary is of course the one with the most technology.

Coffee or Coca ColaSome study came out recently that said coffee was actually good for you. I remember my wife reading it in the paper and telling me I might not die in a few years after all :)

MCAD certification dilemmaChanges to the MCSD have been few and far between over recent years. I doubt MCAD requirements will change for at least 2 years and I doubt they'll change that soon.

70-316 testIt's been a while since I took it and I can't remember much. The demo from Transcender is usually pretty similar in structure to the questions on the exam. It's not actual questions but similar so you at least have an idea what you're in for. If you can afford it you might want to buy a full version but I've never been able to do that myself. Good luck. http://www.transcender.com/products/ProductList.aspx?vendor=Microsoft&tab=td[^]
