    C Caleb Groom

    I too swear by it. Client calls and they say something odd happens in Win98, no problem, just power on the Win98 virtual machine. The main use I have for it right now is messing with WinXP. I'm leary about putting it on any of my computers but a VM is the perfect get-to-know-the-os. Not to mention the software is way underpriced. :-D __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

    C Caleb Groom

    I agree. I just ordered a gig of memory from crucial. :-D For some reason (maybe its the people that I know) I can see people buying XP and installing it over (arg..) their current OS. No consideration to if the computer hardware needs improvement was well. Fast user switching: Probably the only reason I will evenually install it on my parents computer. They have 2 kids at home still. Looks to be a cool feature. __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

    Couldnt have said it better myself. I think that if people are still running 98 and long for some stability they should move to XP. But...can computers running 98 (from 2-3 years ago) handle XP? Not with 64 megs they cant. __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

    Nish, I dont mean this offensive, but since you mentioned you are from india and you used to hang out in IRC I'll share a story with you. I am friends with a guy from India (who lives in the US) and we (used to) talk a lot on IRC. His handle was "Dark" and his !setinfo was this: <ChanServ> [Dark] <--- *:--) (I had to add the double nose so it wouldnt be replaced with a smiley) Anyways, we always got a good laugh out of that one. __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

    No, I think you mis-read the thread. I am saying that I like v4 of Visual Assist. I too have downloaded VA.NET and see no differences in C# code. __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

  • Visual Assist.NET Beta out
    C Caleb Groom

    I think that it works well in VS6. It seems quite buggy and annoying at time but the intellisense that actually works (why cant MS fix this?) saves hours of time. The intellisense is working for me in my C# code in VS.NET so far. At home I use VS.NET but like I said, I have serious issues with it at work. __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

    I dont think they are saying anything offically about the BETA. I'm probably incorrect to assume that it supports C# but since it is (in my opinion) the biggest part of the .NET platform I just figured it would be supported. Are many C++ programmers using VS.NET for C code? At work we are still using VS6 for MFC (and I dont see a switch in the near future). On a sad note, 2 of our Win2K development computers cannot run VS.NET anymore until they are reformated. The program crashes immediatly when VS.NET is opened. Both the uninstall and repair install doesnt seem to work. Its happened twice on my machine now, the first time I was ready to reformat so it wasnt that big of a problem. Three weeks later I'm still loving my clean install. I've checked several forums and all the resources that I have with no luck. :mad: __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)

    I want a piece of this action. We can dress them up in suits and force them to ask us when that feature will be implemented, when the project will be complete, and if "something that small can actually be that hard". • New to C++
    C Caleb Groom

    If databases are your thing (SQL Server does rox0r my box0rs :-O), I would start out with C#. I'd recommend finding a good book though. Most C++ programmers can fish through the documentation and be okay, but newcomers will probably have a problem. As somebody has already mentioned, if you are going to distribute your programs you will have some issues getting your customers to install .NET. But for in-house programs it is a breeze. __________________________ do { cout << "I will never use = when I mean == " << endl; } while (i = 1)
