First, Welcome to CodeProject! Second, from what I understand, it's pretty difficult to get a programming job without a degree (Disclaimer: I'm only heading for my first year of college now). If you happen to be really, really good at what you do and you're a quick learner you may have a chance, though. I do hope you have a success story to share eventually :thumbsup: :)

That's great except for the fact that it's in my most dreaded language... JavaScript :sigh:

The initial learning curve for WPF is pretty steep but having a book should give you a jump-start. After that, it's all fun and games ;)

Ummm.... at least here in the US, we don't have film anymore. Is it that easy to get still in the UK?

Definitely, if you can, get a new machine. It'll be worth the extra money. If you can stand it, get Windows 8. I know many people around here aren't fans of 8, but it does, in most cases, run faster and lighter than XP and 7 (and definitely Vista :-D ).

Over the last year or two we've had a few of these calls at my house. I've never answered them but I've always wanted to lead them on and get them to scramble for information that they don't know. ;P

It'll be all right. Mine's been running it most of the day with no issues yet.
