Here's a good quote from SlashDot[^] : On Wednesday during the launch of its new Sonoma Centrino Mobile, Intel put on a demonstration running a video game on a laptop. It matched the performance of a high-end Pentium 4 desktop running the same game, declared Intel. The contenders were a laptop sporting a 2.13 GHz Pentium M processor, 1GB RAM, and the Alviso chipset versus a desktop with a 3.6 GHz Pentium 4 with hyperthreading, 1GB RAM, and the Grantsdale chipset. Is this a testament to how far the Pentium Mobile architecture has come, or a sad comment on the clockspeed-pushing design of the Pentium 4? SlashDot[^] Here's Intel Centrino Page. Intel Centrino[^] This site will give you more than you'll really want to know. If you download at Intel's Performace Brief[^] check out page 15. Last night, after being up about 55 hours, I read something about Intel's next generation Centrino. Unfortunately I cannot login to the reseller site where I saw this (I guess even Intel's servers go down)

What's hot in Centrino Technology -
SlowProject??Maybe we could all donate hardware that they request. You know like memory, high-end switches/routers, servers... ...I've got a client {doctor's office) who just spent buckets of cash on some new hardware. I wonder if I can get CP in jail. hey, I'd do just about anything for Bob (*cough*) I mean, to help Chris out

f&%!@$#g windows...Uninstalling SP2 isn't that hard. They actually included a routine to do it for you. Read On: You can also use a hidden folder SP2 made to initiate its own uninstall routine. In the Run command box, type c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst \spuninst.exe. This will start the SP2 uninstall wizard. Follow the prompts. Somebody should give me a cookie for this tip

Packing, packing, packingLast time I moved we packed everything. Then I broke my shoulder. Ahhh... and then my friends felt pitty and moved everything for me. Just break something. That way you don't have to worry about it. Then again, I think I may owe a few favors yet.

Lounge tradition2 1/2 hours!!!! I purchased a new laptop about a month and a half ago. Acer Ferrari 3000 and I'm happy to show it off. Until someone asks about battery life. I'm getting about 1hr 50min out of it. (But the automotive finish makes up for it) Please tell me that I've got better battery life than someone else with a newer laptop.

Interesting Thread - Learning how to improve your appEven if no personal info is sent! The problem is: Lets put this in place. Now prove to me that you aren't sending personal info. And if you are sneaky enough to "modify" the wording in the license agreement, then how ethical/moral are you to not go the next step. There really doesn't seem to be a big leap between the two. Also, no one should just write an application to do something with my system that I am not fully aware of. why do I even bother trying to bitch about these morons?

Interesting Thread - Learning how to improve your appThis is exactly why I test software out on a trial laptop first. It isn't any of the developers business unless I fill out a form on his webpage. Yes I would love to know a bunch of things, from my software. But its just freakin' wrong. I really don't care about all of the arguements, he claims are good. This one should just start off fireworks. QUOTE I fully admit we're not nearly as open about it as we should be and indeed, wording is being modified in the license. END QUOTE

I was trying to sign upfor a yearly e-mail service. I am planning on starting a computer tech business (ie small business.) I just tried signing up at techemail.com for an address, but they could not verify my street address. After looking around the sites I couldn't find any contact e-mail. Just that it was available for subscribers. So does anyone know of a good place I could get an e-mail address, preferably will POP and SMTP support. I want to view it in Mozilla mail. For not more than $25 or $30 dollars. Maybe we could all subscribe to something that would give us e-mail addresses like: cisco@codeproject.com or ChrisMaunderRocks@codeproject.com (I might need help on my suck up skills) Seriously though, I need an address that I can run business e-mails through. I really don't want hotmail or MSN (I know I'm winey) Thankx

Quantity of HDDsyou can of course add in I/O cards to add more Yeah.. two Maxtor PCI to IDE cards I'd be more concerned with power though Then I'm hoping that the two 450W power supplies hold up. Maybe I should part this thing out and make two computers out of it.

Need some help findinga company. I need to find info on a company named "Alteras" and I think thats the right name. They have "canned" systems so that you can set up a server and workstations at mutiple locations and interconnect all of them. The canned part is the software part, where you just tweak everything to suit your needs. Apparently they are a good company from what I've heard. But I cannot find any info on them. Oh yeah... we are in the US. I appreciate any info CP'ers can give me. Thanx
