No. Once you put your data in the cloud, it's no longer yours. All the things you could have done with that data you now have to ask permission and justify your reasons.

Do you trust the "Cloud"? -
I want you Bach...BabyI've played prog rock drums for almost 50 years, but when coding it's gotta be smooth ambient music https://musicforprogramming.net/latest/[^]

Long Live Visual StudioTurbo Pascal was such a pleasure. Now I use C# and thank Anders Hejlsberg for both. Kinda funny I started my coding career and will be ending it with two of his inventions.

Long Live Visual StudioI used the predecessor of Visual Studio, 16-bit Visual C++ 1.0 with MFC 2.0, back in 93. Before that it was MS C/C++ ver 7, and Turbo Pascal. IMHO, VC++ 6.0 which came later was such an excellent IDE to live and work in. These days, working in VS2017, having gone thru all those versions, I miss some things. VS2008 is still a fav, the way the child windows work is much more productive than later versions. Yes, I'm old.

YouTube AdsI do this as well. It also allows me to control the sound quality better for podcasts.

Computer Science ranked as one of 20th most useless degree majorGot mine in 1988. Didnt matter as much for the first out-of-school job, but for a job in the defense contracting world, a BS was absolutely required (as a minimum). Also, I think having a degree shows you have a level of stick-to-it-ness, you put the time in, showed up for class, did the work, studied, passed the tests. Something to be said for that IMO.

Quick PollNever used either, I don't mind writing the code myself.

Most meaningful project? We did a suite of software for our County Prosecutor's Office to provide services for individuals with mental health issues, that keeps them from being arrested and jailed. It provides instead, a program that allows the individuals to connect with and get proper assistance from mental health professionals and remain free. The program was then extended to veterans who may be suffering from PTSD and other issues. Keeping people that shouldn't be in jail, out of jail, and getting them assistance that they need, well, that makes me feel good. We also did another suite of software so County residents can register and detail individuals with special needs with the County 911 system, so any responders can be more sensitive to the situation. Glad I had the opportunity to create those vehicles. And it's surely better than writing code that registers AH64 Hellfire missile proscriptions and other stuff I've done.

...lighten up Francis..what we have here is a failure to communicate...The Professor : "Look at this. Look at what they make you give. " Bourne: 'I swear to God, if I even feel somebody behind me, there is no measure to how fast and how hard I will bring this fight to your doorstep.' Cronin: "He's making his first mistake." Nicki: "It's not a mistake. They don't make mistakes. They don't do random. There's always an objective. Always a target." ~ The Bourne Trilogy Newt: "We'd better get back, 'cause it'll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night... mostly" Hudson: "Maybe we got 'em demoralized. " Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man? Vasquez: No. Have you? Bishop: I'm afraid I have some bad news. Hudson: Well that's a switch. Hicks: I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is an M41A pulse rifle. Ten millimeter with over-and-under thirty millimeter pump action grenade launcher. Burke: This is clearly an important species we're dealing with and I don't think that you or I, or anybody, has the right to arbitrarily exterminate them. Ripley: Wrong. Vasquez: Yeah, watch us. ~ Aliens Lt. A.K. Waters: Now cowboy the fuck up! ~ Tears of the Sun "Don't talk like you're one of them! You're not... even if you'd like to be. To them you're just a freak, like me. They need you right now, but when they don't, they'll cast you out. Like a leper. See, their morals, their "code"... it's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these uh, these "civilized people", they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve." "This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible, aren't you? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness, and I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever." "I'm a dog chasing cars... I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. I just... do things. I'm just the wrench in the gears. I hate plans." "Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I'm an agent of chaos." ~ the Joker, The Dark Knight

Working remotely? Check what software is on your company lappie ...It really was. Unfortunately for me, I read the book World War Z over a couple days lunch and break time and it totally weirded me out. I'd walk outside and no cars, no one walking, no one in the building. Poor choice of reading material during a pandemic. Otherwise, it was a very productive time, haha.

Working remotely? Check what software is on your company lappie ...I agree with this. It was impossible for me to be anywhere near as productive working remote compare to in the office. After 2 days, I opted to go back to the office, which was nice as 99.99% of the people in my building were remote.

"Always on top" attribute...In a couple little utility apps I've made, I have a menu selection for this. When I do offer that option, I also offer one to make the window transparent when not top in the z-order, and a transparency percent. So even though it could be stay on top, you can still see thru it. It has it's uses.

LoggingI use a singleton, CLogEntry, so I can make 1 line log entries anyplace or time. Here, someone copied a folder from one place to another: CLogEntry.MakeLogEntry(CDefines.TYPE_FOLDER, pFolderInfo.nID, CDefines.LOG_ACTION_COPIED, pFileInfo.m_szTitle); It adds a date and user ID stamp when it write to the table. So any place something notable happens, I can pop in a single line call and save the info.
