In case anyone else drops by this, extending ArrayAdapter<> and using that as the adapter for a ListView works pretty well for collections. With some work you can get it to behave as you want! For single items, it's just as easy to do it all in the activity itself, although not great separation. I am new to this Android stuff though so I'm probably missing something... It is valid -- but, the creator of the XSD did not indicate that it was required -- and you have assumed that it is required. If your code cannot tolerate that -- then modify the XSD to make it required and have whoever produces the XML give it a default value.... However, this is simply pushing it off to the side. This is an issue that does not relate to XML per se -- it relates to best practices about defining and validating data. The XSD defines the structure and rules of XML -- so the designer of the schema must describe the data perfectly and consumers must not make assumptions that are not supported by the XSD.

Until such time as software companies develop a workng solution to monitor installed software and report on same, many companies use the tried-and-true method: Generate a piece of paper showing the purchase agreement for the installed software and file it in a folder for the affected computer. I see where you're coming from. Richard's solution below is the best for this particular situation I think as the array doesn't actually need to be in memory all at once. I can simply create the instances as required using yield return directly. Thanks for your input though, it has helped clarify some of my thinking in regards to iterators and foreach which will be helpful in future, and encouraged me to dig deeper into the whole thing that I previously just took for granted :thumbsup: Dave Binging is like googling, it just feels dirtier. You are too nice! If the system adds value to the organization, then you should get compensated. Protect yourself with a EULA and agree to a free trial period. Use that time to work out any kinks. Once the trial period is up, you both should have an idea of the value of the system, what your resulting compensation should be, and whether you require legal expertise.
