Interesting analysis of Facebook's iOS app here: [quellish - How on Earth the Facebook iOS Application is so large](http://quellish.tumblr.com/post/126712999812/how-on-earth-the-facebook-ios-application-is-so). He wonder's why it's so large and found that it uses 18,000 classes. Facebook gave a presentation (since deleted from slideshare), apparently they used 429 coders to write the App and complained that "iOS can’t handle our scale". This started a lively conversation on reddit: [Facebook Engineer: iOS Can't Handle Our Scale : programming](https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/3m5n2n/facebook\_engineer\_ios\_cant\_handle\_our\_scale/)

Why Windows 10?Vulkan capabilities are more or less the same as DirectX 12. Game developers decided to stick with DirectX because of historical reasons and fear.

How to use PVS-Studio for freeI think pvs-studio is a good tool, but it's not a silver bullet. It'll find a few bugs in your code, which often are just potential bugs, rather than real bugs. Still worth trying (especially considering that it's now free).

Develop for UWP?No. I want my apps to be more portable, not less portable. UWP will eventually die and will become just another failed MS technology, like Silverlight and WinRT

Twice the bits, twice the trouble: vulnerabilities induced by migrating to 64-bit platformsWell, if you have a codebase that's only ever been fully tested compiled as 32-bit, you should not be surprised that it'll have bugs when compiled as 64-bit.

Polymorphism PolymorphismEasy solution: simply don't use the new features. Then, it's just the same as the old c++ ;)

Use stronger types!Umm, in his example you don't need "strong types" at all. Just check that the properties have meaningful values when they are loaded.

What's more distracting than a noisy co-worker? Turns out, not muchHow about having toy drones smash into your head? I think that's a bit more distracting. In the last place I worked they bought all these toy drones as a reward for completing a deadline. During the break the guys were trying them out and it turns out they are very hard to control...

Apple's new MacBook Pro has no escape keyconstants don't have to be all capitals, neither does assembler... and for me they aren't. What can I say the few times I ever need captials I just hold down the shift key

Apple's new MacBook Pro has no escape keySeriously? I just wonder under what situations you continously need to type everything all in captials, because that happens to me like once every 5 years.
