What's up, I was looking through some of the other posts about shareware but none talks about the laws. For example, I read some article stating that you must create and register as a small business in the US to be able to sell shareware. I would guess this involves lawyers and lots of paperwork and fees. However, if this is the case, how come there are thousands of shareware programs, many of which I'm sure don't get many registrations? :wtf: I bet there has to be some control system for the government to collect tax, etc. Thanks, Eric

ASMTry The Art of Assembly Language. That's the e-book I'm using to learn assembly and it's free too. It's very detailed and explains things really good. I believe it has around 1200 pages. You can get it here: http://webster.cs.ucr.edu/Page\_asm/0\_ArtOfAsm.html

Eye StrainThanks to everyone that answered. I changed the refresh rate of my monitor to optimal and that may it a bit better. I think the best way would be to go to the eye specialist and get them checked out. Probably need some drops or something. Thanks again.

Eye StrainHey guys, I have a question. Is there some kind of glasses that help relieve eye stress when you look at the monitor. My eyes get so red when I'm more than hour staring at the monitor. I have to wait until the next morning for them to be ok. Perhaps there is some special glasses, high res monitor, or some other gadget? Thanks

I'm Better NowIt's been a long time since I've heard from him. You are right, he probably changed his screen name to avoid criticism.

America Strikes BackI don't think they will be able to do anything. Afghan vs Super Powers. They are preparing their citizens for a jihad but what will they do, attack us riding in camels. They barely have enough food and money to survive on their own, so they will never be able to sustain a war.

So SimpleYea you are right. We should leave the Middle East. Yes they do have Petroleum but so do we. If there is an unanimous vote on the Middle East, we should do that. However, if this is the case, that section of the world will be the first one to drown, to become a lost civilization. For your information, United States is the biggest provider of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. American merchandise should therefore be prohibited from there else we would not mind our own business. I'm sure without us they would have no technology, no computers, probably no electricity. We have other partenrs that would benefit us more, Japan, Canade, England, etc. They are stating that we are interfering there so they attacked us. They have no valid excuse and they can not admit they did it, or else. That is just a lame excuse, just like children blame their teachers for getting bad grades. If we abandon them, the terrorist network will be greatly expanded knowing that they have little to fear and then will strike again, then justfying it by saying that we did not help them. Therefore, I believe that the only to way to solve this is to eradicate all these fanatics and murderers and all the countries that sustain them. You also wrote that US commited terrorism when it attempted to overthrow Fidel Castro. I am cuban and I believe that it would have been the right thing to do. It wasn't terrorism because we did not kill innocent people. They were able to combat US. We were not able to combat terrorists because they are cowards. Sea Pirates were like ancient terrorist. Like dinosaurs, they are extinct. Terrorist will share their fate.:(

Multiple Processes: Threads, Messages, EtcHey Michael, thanks a lot for replying. I'll try that. Thanks again.

Multiple Processes: Threads, Messages, EtcHey, Could any one please tell me any idea on how can i solve this problem. I made a list box in which files can be added and can also be zipped. However, all of this is done in a while loop so the dialog isn't receivng any messages, kind of freezing until the loop is done. I would like to be able to click Cancel but it's not working. I tried inserting this in the middle of the loop: CWinApp* pApp = AfxGetApp(); MSG msg; while ( PeekMessage ( &msg, NULL, 0, 0, PM_NOREMOVE )) pApp->PumpMessage(); but it makes it a lot slower and while the files are being zipped this won't work. I created a worker thread but the problem is that i need to call functions like: next = m_files.GetNextItem(next-1 ,LVNI_SELECTED ); which are non static so the compiler will give me an error. It won't work either with GUI thread. Any suggesions on how to fix this? Thanks alot. Regards, Eric

What was your most most difficult programming task?I just figured out I was unable to do it. Before posting the other one, I had worked out an exapmple that apparently gave me 3 #s but now i found out that i had actually gotten 4 numbers, just didn't write it down. Sorry. You might want to ask someone in: http://forum.swarthmore.edu/dr.math/ If you look at the examples, they have solved really hard problems. Good Luck Eric

Selling applications on-lineCheck out this site: http://www.blackcatsystems.com/regservices It has a list of around 15 registration services like regnow and has a comparison chart. As far as the best way to sell apps, I would recommend registration code. However, if your app becomes popular enough, you are likely to lose money due to crackers. Why can't they use their skills for good rather damaging others? As far as I know almost every program can be cracked, no matter how secure it is. Softice along is the only tool hackers need to view the entire asm code of the program and how it works and therefore patch it and modify the CRC or checksum scheme or other protections. Good Luck. Eric :)

What was your most most difficult programming task?As far as I know making 4 numbers into 2 is not possible. Actually it is, but turning 2 into 4 is not. If that was the case, compressors like ZIP would use it to reduce every file by half. However, you can make 4 numbers into into three (not 2) and back easily using multiple equations.

Which programming task do you hate most?Debugging is what i hate most. Sometimes you have done all the work on the project you are working on and there is a small bug lurking behind the code. I've spent hours trying to figure out why something is not working and then find out that i forgot to use == instead of = in an if statement. Drives me crazy.

We can't uninstall IE6.0 from Windows XP?I think IE can be uninstalled using some programs like Cleansweep. You'll be able to select the exe and then it will find all releated files and entries and delete them. :-D

You should say something like This 2.0 GHZ P4, 120 GB 8400 Rpm hardrive, 512 MB RAM, 64 MB Geoforce, is hot... Or this 3D Animated Cyber Woman is hot... Just kidding.:-D ;)
