career breakThings to think about.* Getting back into the saddle, how and when do you plan to do it... If you don't have a plan or haven't thought about it you are basically jumping off a cliff and expecting to find a parachute on the way down.
- Insurance Insurance Insurance. Bad things always happen when you don't think you need insurance during your break.
- Are you going to be a couch potatoe for months, or have you planned out what you are going to do? Maybe go back to school, take some courses at a tech college, get some training in something you've always wanted to do but never had time. Even if it's related or unrelated.
- Consider volunteering while you are on your break. Makes up for having to try to explain your reason for taking a break to a new employer.
- Consider doing a couple short contracts during your break to keep skills in check and to fill the gap in your resume; at least it's on your terms and you picked it so you should enjoy it.
- Basically have a plan, if you don't you'll wander aimlessly. Things I have thought about, have considered, have done and will do again, shortly. Cheers, -Erik

Regular Expression In JavaScriptUse the method getElementsByTagName with the arguement "mso:Date_x0020_updated" which will return u a collection of those objects in the html page. Then with each HTML object call "innerText" or "innerHTML" to obtain the content between the object tags. No need for regular expressions to do this. or if getElementsByTagName is not available and you are using the HTMLDOM then try the document.all.tags("mso:Date_x0020_updated") to get a collection of objects and then for each item in the collection use innerText or innerHTML. Using product logo in an advertisementsearched for "logo use" first returned result was ... Style Guide: Macromedia Corporate Logos[^] Cheers, -Erik
-
Using product logo in an advertisementMacromedia has a whole section of their site to their logo use and applicable logo displayment. You can also contact them and they will tell you. But if you have to use a logo consider this. If they don't know the words the logo is just eye candy and isn't going to add any value. You can't search a for a logo like you can text. And any logo that should be displayed should be your companies not someone elses company or product. Cheers, -Erik

MSN Messenger Servers Down?I Emailed MSN Support and this is the response I got. "Thank you for writing to MSN Messenger Customer Support. We understand that you were not able to connect to MSN Messenger. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. MSN Messenger has undergone server maintenance that affected some users and prevented them from accessing the service and our website http://messenger.msn.com. You are valuable at MSN and we look forward to providing you with consistent and effective service. If you have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to write back." Some? All is more like it. Editors voting on articles?I'd have to agree. They took the time to read the aritcle. make sure the grammer is right and that it makes sense to someone else reading it. They also examine the files and images to make sure that everything is there and that it's not missing parts. If I read it while putting it together for everyone else to read and I have an opinion on it's value to the site, why can't I vote on it? Now if I was the author, I wouldn't vote on my own article. Cheers, -Erik

Application ArchitectureBreak it down into sections. What you want to expose, what you need to expose. Then sub group them into objects and collections. Then you pretty much have your DOM you just have to supply the methods, properties, and abilities you want them to do and have them interact with your application. Cheers, -Erik

Gas pricesDavidCrow wrote: According to the Associated Press and AAA, the high gas prices are not a deterrent in this weekend's holiday travels. What holiday is this weekend? I'm expecting the weekend after next, the 29/30/31, to be when people will be doing their holiday travel. Cheers, -Erik
