Okay I live in Calgary, and yeah depending when you go Banff is pretty touristy.. Lake Louise is about the furthest away hill you can go to from Banff. We've also got Sunshine (which is pretty decent) that's a lot closer to Banff.. There are some good places in Banff to eat, but yeah since it IS a tourist town, expect to pay a little bit extra.. intercepting Javascript calls (Client)Hi, I'm not sure how to explain this (properly)... But what I want to do, is to play around with intercepting internet browser event messages to JavaScript.. Is there some kind of system hook I can use to intercept javascript event messages to be processed by the browser?? If I'm not making much sense, please let me know and I'll try to explain the problem in a different approach.. ;P thanks in advance! "Oh hello Damien. My name is Philip. But everyone who hates me, calls me Pip." "Then I shall call you Pip." "Righto."

EverQuest GNPYEah...I caught that the other day too. It was funny how he commented that while Ultima Online doesn't try to restrict "real world" transactions of "game world" materials, Sony DOES, claiming that it's it's intellectual property. He commented that Sony is fighting a trade war that no "real world" government has ever won.   As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

good win32 networking book?Hey all, Just curious if anyone out there can recommend a book for network programming on the win32 platform. I didn't notice any "book review" section here on CodeProject, so if I HAVE missed it, sorry for the post..:-O thanks in advance and take it easy.. "Dude that nurse has no arms!"
"There, there. We're an equal opportunity employer here son." -
DirectX8 GamesJust my 2 cents.. Wolfgang Engel seems like a pretty sharp guy, but IMHO the book stinks due to it's overwhelming dependency on the Direct3D framework provided by MS for the samples...I learnt MORE about using the bloody framework than on DirectX8, so I'd have to say this one should be a pass (sorry Wolfgang) The one I recommend the most is "Multiplayer Game Programming"...it uses DX8 and it also covers networking!! The Direct3D8 covered in there is actually well done as well.. or you could try some of my tutorials..:) http://www.wazooenterprises.com As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

hamas and Infocom? No Way!! Adventure??!! I *think* I played that on my old Apple IIe...thanks Ravi, I gotta try that out.. And Colin, I hear you...that's why I'm trying to find out more information...I've found a few articles on the HLF, and "Texas based" US companies which are suspected of funding them. They don't mention Infocom by name IN THESE ARTICLES, but a friend of mine was just watching CNN where he explicitly mentions them.. here's the first
And then this happend on Sept. 6th That's why I'm asking..in case anyone's heard anything more.. As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print. -
Microsoft Using .Net in AngerSo let's suppose that MS DOES track your every movement...what then? Do they sell that data to toy/music/hardware/pharmaceutical companies?? You could be on to something. Maybe that's why they show mcdonald's ads AD NAUSEUM and play Britanny Spears and the boy bands on an infinite cycle.. But imagine the terabytes of storage space needed to store data on EVERY single person with a chip installed.. And (knowing MS) just HOW reliable is the chip anyways?? Why can't they implant the chip into more people who let's say... (a) watch porn all the time (= more porn on tv for the rest of us!) (b) never EVER touch spam (will it ever die?) (c) Only watches Britanny Spears videos for the porn factor (see a) (d) Never EVER buys Boy Band CD's, UNLESS they are intimidated by their girlfriends/wives who exploit the porn factor (See a) (e) Blast any type of lovesick romance movies into the stratosphere! (f) Enjoys watching strongmen competitions vs. Ally Mcbeal weenies. (g) Who desperately wish that we'd air drop Celine Dion and Mecha-Streisand into Afghanistan to "help the suffering" there's loads of others, but this would be a good starting point for said chip. hamas and Infocom? So has anyone else been following the story?? Apparently the US government has frozen the assets of the Holy Land Foundation, claiming it to be a financial front for the Hamas organization. Ashcroft has ALSO stated that they've frozen the financial assets of Infocom because it turns out 6 of their employees were also members of the HLF.. Now I don't have much else than this on the story...does anyone else know anything?? And I was a Zorkaholic As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

How long will we last?unless all those stories of Reincarnation happen to be true... Wouldn't it be grand to be reincarnated as a tree and watch yourself getting pissed on by dogs, and eaten by termites, dug in by squirrels and puked on by prats from a Frat house?? What fun. "Oh death, where is thy sting?" How this has to do with the future of humanity I have no clue, I was making an aside comment..:) As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

How long will we last?Well it just goes to show that the old idiom "same sh*t, different pile" will probably still hold after 2 trillion years of human evolution.. I bet even in the Dinosaur era there was some big kahuna somewhere who had an idea on how to market evasion tactics to the rest of his clan...for a few more exotic leaves, he'd even show you the safest place to procreate... And so .world was born To throw another log in the fire, what if we were merely a stepping stone to an even more advance life form? The dinosaurs were around for a while, then came the great ball of dust that wiped them out.. Then came us...with the plan of evolving through a natural selection process (over a few hundred thousand years) into the goal of an even higher life form. But if that's true, and that life form turns out to be a society of Uber-Oprahs, I'm checking out now..:) As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

Red Hat Linux 7.1 : Good or Not?Think of it like the Star Trek movies....the odd numbered ones blew total goats..(#5 WHAT were they THINKING??!!) But the even numbered ones ruled! Erik As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

.NET licensing? The same people who came up with a technology sounding identical to domain naming conventions..:) Erik As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

.NET licensing? Thanks for the link I'll check it out... So the licensing should only apply to projects using "Hailstorm"?? That would imply that this subset of .NET infrastructure is/might be quite usefull... HOW usefull is .NET WITHOUT the "Hailstorm" piece?? ie. if you don't subscribe then the remaining "free" packages for .NET are pretty much worthless??? (Obviously it depends what you want to do, etc...I just meant this in broad terms).. If this was answered in the link posted previously, then forgive me, I haven't checked it out yet...:) Erik As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

.NET licensing?I was hoping it was only something like that. A friend of mine was trying to convince me over the weekend that the licensing fee affected EVERY developer on the .NET platform (not just those subscribing to the Passport features).. I hope this doesn't prove to be the case. It would push people over to looking into Java solutions for sure.. Erik As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

.NET licensing?Okay I'm SURE this is a FAQ, so I apologize...I'm just hunting for information on the licensing by MS associated with .NET projects. I'm hearing some huge, ugly numbers, and I want to find out for myself just what's involved in the shift over to a .NET strategy (from a managerial pov) for a report to my boss.. I'm a developer by trade, but I'm getting hounded by more and more questions about the .NET "strategy", so I'd like to be able to give back some numbers to help them out.. I couldn't find anything on MS's official site, but that's not saying much as I can NEVER find anything on their site...;P thanks, Erik As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

Next 'Star Wars' movie has been named.Do you know what's going to piss me off the most?? Lucasfilm is releasing TPM this oct on DVD..(remember he will not release any DVD's of the second trilogy until the prequel trilogy is finished).. so let's say that he released EPI, II and III all on DVD....then WATCH. They'll go on to release EPIV, V, VI (individually) on DVD after that.. After a year, they'll then release the "Official" DVD pack consisting of all 6 movies.. Then the next year after that, they'll add 10 minutes of extra footage from EPII, and III, then release ANOTHER 6 pack of the "Director's Selection" StarWars Pack Remember all that crap about the VHS tapes?? What a steamy load! Ep IV, V and VI...normal VHS Ep IV, V and VI...thx VHS Ep IV, V and VI...limited edition box set VHS Ep IV, V and VI...limited edition box set letterboxed VHS Ep IV, V and VI...Special Edition VHS Ep IV, V and VI...Special Edition boxed set VHS Ep IV, V and VI...Special Edition boxed set letterbox VHS Of course the release schedule was spread out over several years, also adding in like 3 or 4 minutes of extra footage which guaranteed purchase by the true fans... bastards all of them... Next 'Star Wars' movie has been named.my 2 cents. by the time that Episode II will be released, ticket prices are *probably* going to be around 15-16 bucks (canadian). (EXTREME rip off when most movies these days have all the plot of an Oreo cookie...WHATEVER happened to the great "thinking" movies of days gone by??? *E grumbles* I will be waiting for video on this one, because I refuse to cowtow to these ridiculous theatre prices. The only thing that would make me see it in the theatre would be the title of "Star Wars II - The Painfull Dissemination of Jar Jar Binks" (or something akin to that) Title for Star Wars III? "Three Jedi and a baby" Weren't there rumours long ago about John Woo directing one of the prequels? I think that episode II sounds like it'll have lots of battles, so Woo should direct the action... Thank goodness the rumours were false about Dicaprio taking the role of Anakin in Episode II... As Borusa always said, There's nothing more useless than a lock with a voice print.

Direct PlayDid you want to hardcode an IP address IN the InitializeConnection? Or did you mean you wanted to hardcode the TYPE of address as being TCP/IP? Which type of DirectPlay object are you trying to use? Client/Server or Peer-to-Peer? Erik I hit faked him with my win32 API .chm and the peabrain goes for it. I follow it up with a salvo of left's and right's sending him down hard. It's lunch time and he's getting a Champ Sandwhich Special. I said, How's that Mr. VB?! Is that 'I wanna use COM in that Server enough for you?!' ...Ever since then, I've been the Champ.
