I have tried Rational RequisitePro but before commiting it to my project i would like to evalute other options as well. Thanks in advance.

  • ActiveX control behvaiour in VS 2005
    J Jain Mohit

To begin with, it might soudn like a programming question, but to me it seems to be something other than that hence I am posting it here: I have a ActiveX control created in VB 6 from a 3rd party and wanted to use it in ASP.Net/VB.Net but the control dosent expose APIs which could be called from ASp.Net/VB.Net. I tried invoking the function from javascript but later foudn that some functions on the OCX were not even exposed to javascript. So the tech support (who do not provide support for .Net) suggested that we create another wrapped OCX around theirs, and use that OCX within our web pages. So far so good. We did as they said, created our own OCX, doing whatever we wanted to. We then tested it out on .Net 1.1 and the control worked like a charm. But when we attemp to use the same control in VS 2005 (prfessional edition), the control does appear in teh toolbox pane, but is disabled, and does not allow itself to be placed on any page. in VS 2003 we are using it normally without any issues. Can you plz guide me as to what might be the problem.

  • Happy Holi-day !!!
    J Jain Mohit

happy Holi to all CPian and non-CPian too... As to explain the spirit of Holi, We in India, celebrate this day as 'Festivals of colors', shed our inhibitions and throw color powder (gulal) at others, and even soak them wet with buckets of colored water. Kids have their part of fun with squirt guns. All in all.. its half day of going on the streets and getting yourself colored and then spending another half of the day in getting the colors off your body. gr8 fun!! i luv it.. http://www.indiaexpress.com/rangoli/holi.html[^] http://www.nd.edu/~iand/IANDWebPage/Holi-03-1.jpg[^] -- modified at 4:18 Tuesday 14th March, 2006

  • How's you Visual Studio .NET 2003 doing?

We used Visual Assist and stopped the intellisense, which kindof improved the performance for us and teh IDE woudl not go into 'thinking mode' that often

  • How's you Visual Studio .NET 2003 doing?
    J Jain Mohit

I had a solution with 98 projects (ASP.Net, C#)(yes 98!!) and it worked like a charm, but now the new project I am working on has 19 projects (ASP.Net VB.Net)in a solution and every time I build the solution the IDE closes abruptly midway of the build. The IDE dosent give me any warning message whatsoever, just disappears from the screen.. POOF!!!.. it happens on all 8 machines I tried on. Even checked the event viewer log for any info but nope, no trace of anything there!! totally clueless:confused::sigh: :((

Sellecting colors.. wallpaper patterns etc!! hummm.. that can be a bit tricky!! After wallpapers would be floor boards, then moulding then curtains and wot not!! Oh!! i almost forgot to mention.. then you might want to see how teh room looks in day light and how it transforms in night under artificial lights!! belive me the room really transforms, light plays tricks on colors! think about it.. 'how does my room appear at 10:00 am in July... and if that is waht you are finally targetting at then i woudl recommend a visit to www.vismasters.com[^]. And for those purposes Floorplan 3D might not come in handy.. but undoubtly FP is a good point to start with. lateron you have migrate to TurboCad/FormZ or alike...

  • First question: 3D home planner
    J Jain Mohit

SketchUp is a really cool app for creating 3D model.. specially thier Push n Pull thingy.. ROCKS!! I used it about 2 yrs back.. and havent used ti since.. but do hope that these guys have imporved this tool in 2 yrs.. If you are looking at photorealistic rendering.. then SketchUp was not teh best one (atleast 2 yrs ago!) Other tools I can suggest are: FloorPlan 3D (IMSI) TurboCAD FormZ All in all.. if you are not a 3D modeling geek (or dont want to become one) then) Sketchup and FloorPlan are good enough tools. Otherwise.. turboCAD, FormZ, 3D Max are teh real thing. Hope this helps.
