Ha! I found the problem. DAX uses a caching mechanism to avoid too many roundtrips to the SQL Server. If you're using the primary key in a query, then DAX will search an in-memory cache to retrieve a single record. Apparently, DAX gets confused when I use the primary key field busRelAccount on the left hand side of the comparison. Using bus.disableCache(true) fixes this problem. I hope they get rid of this bug soon, I really don't like to think of all the places I could have trusted this to just work. Well, the idea is to encapsulate database handling to ease change of DBMS (Axapta is not originally created at Microsoft, so it actually supports Oracle too :-) ). There are some options that the Damgaard/Naviosion/Microsoft guys are exposing though. But the only promising field that I can find, is one labeled "ODBC options" which I presume is meant for additional options to a connection string. I haven't been able to find any documentation on valid ODBC options to SQL Server 2008 though... The problem is: I have a pointer to a CoClass Document in memory, I don't want to save it to disk, which seems to be the only option in the _Document interface. _Document does not inherit the IStorage or IStream interface, so to use structure storage, I would have to first store the Document on the harddisk, and then open it using eg. StgOpenStorage. :doh: The idea was to stream the document to a web client without touching the harddisk. Yeah, I know, but this app is to be cleared by the security department in a large financial institution, so impersonation really isn't an option. My first error was to use impersonation as a convenience before testing if I could actually run the component in a real life situation. It seems that it may not be worth the effort, I think I settle for writing the go-between component in plain ATL/C++, but I sure would like to know if the security issue could be solved, or if it is a bug in the cominterop framework.
