The fact that things change when you move the monitor indicates that you have a 'brown' connection somewhere. This has absolutely nothing to do with programming,(unless if you in moving the screen inadvertely move the mouse, touch the keyboard, or, if you have a touch screen, when moving the monitor). In that case, be more carefull, and debug the appropriate input! Otherwise,You are in the wrong forum for this type of problem, but, as free advice (for once) I offer the following:- Place your system, (Desk and all), in the middle of the room! Get your System up and running, and gently move the Cables around one by one, without disturbing the other cables. Start with the Powe Cables, and Plugs. Differentiate between the Plug and the cable! Put Tension on each cable. When the system dies, you found a 'brown' circuit! Replace the Cable, If the problem persists, it is either the Connector protruding from the equipment, or the inner hardware soldered to the connector. If the problem has gone, it probably was the Lead! THROW IT OUT! Working off a super-simplified instruction set, the first example can be generalized to the following. We'll assume that the architecture has branch prediction and that compiler optimization has rearranged the memory accesses so they effectively take just one spot in the pipeline. loop 1 x1 million: decrement dst1 compare/branch dst1 to stop decrement src1 read memory at src1 write memory at dst1 loop 2 x1 million: decrement dst2 compare/branch dst2 to stop decrement src2 read memory at src2 write memory at dst2 Second example loop x1 million: decrement dst1 compare/branch dst1 to stop decrement src1 read memory at src1 write mem at dst1 decrement src2 decrement dst2 read mem at src2 write mem at dst2 With this oversimplification, the second example will run at 9/10 the time of the first. If the memory accesses are the limiting factor in performance, then the difference between the examples will be negligible. Also, depending on the size of the data and the amount of physical memory available to your process, the first one example might possibly run faster since it better obeys the principle of spatial locality. If branching policy is the limiting factor, then the second example would perform even better (as in less time) than 9/10 the time of the first, since it has 1 million less branch instructions. Dear CPian, in the HTML world, all tags have a STYLE called "position". The "position" style can have a few different values. The 3 most used that you should be aware of are: inline absolute relative The default one is INLINE which allows the HTML elements to be rendered as they are found within the HTML code. In other words they follow the flow of the code in respect of their parent element. The ABSOLUTE positioning will ignore the hierarchy for of the element(in the HTML code) to wich is applied and position the element to exact coordinates having as origin the most top and most left of the browser wndow. This is why you will notice that all asolutely positioned elements also have a LEFT and a TOP style, style attributes that take as values numbers in pixels, picas, ems and percentages and a few others that my mind is missing now. So an element coded as such: <DIV style="position:absolute; top:100px; left:100px;">I AM ABSOLUTELY POSITIONED</DIV> will have its origin(top left corner of the DIV) to the coordinate 100,100 discarding any parent elements. No matter where it is found within the code, its position wouldn't change. The RELATIVE positioning is the same with the ABSOLUTE with one main difference. Hi. Thanks for your response. I am using multiple inheritance. I just didn't want to burden a potential responder with reading unecessary code. With respect to your comment, I have stepped through, and it doesn't appear that I have to completely redefine the function. I can call the base function in the derived function even when the base function is virtual and it calls the right (or wrong depending on your view) version. The documentation suggests this should not be the case.

Put the window handle of the parent modeless dialog into a member variable of the child modeless dialog's class. When the child modeless dialog is closing, capture the events with handlers, such as WM_CLOSE, WM_DESTROY, etc. In those handler,s post a registered window message to the parent window that informs the parent the child is closing. That should work VERY well.
