Hi Jared, I saw your post and was looking for some help, I am trying to write a Sync Manager component as well and I am having great difficulty with this as I am fairly new to C++ mostly VB, but I really need to hook into this interface, I to start with just wanted to get a hook in working, i.e register for synchronization and that sort of thing, do you have good samples you could share or point me in the right direction ? If WMI is an option for your tool you can get all that information from it. Just take a look to the class "Win32_Process". I remember some nice articles about WMI in codeproject. If you don't find them let me know.

I have a similar problem that I cannot seem to defeat as well ... except mine happens every time I run VS .NET IDE. Windows Installer pops up saying it has to install something. I let it run the first few go-rounds, but it keeps coming up. Now I just hit CANCEL and move on with life. Still very annoying though. I un-installed and re-installed, but stil no go. I un-installed and installed on another machine, no problem at all. The machine I had the problem on is a laptop with a Pentium M chip. Wonder if that has anything to do with it? (probably not...but I remember back in the day with Oracle 9i, it would not install properly on a P4 without a few minor modifications made to the install files)

That's how I got XP to boot back using Mandrake 9.X just simply removed Lilo..There may be a restore previous flag I'm not sure but I do know thats how I did it.

Ah. Thanks for the Info. I had another solution to the problem in the intermin. I created an inner class to house the events and the event raising functions. I then exposed the events through properties (as you've shown above). I fixed this problem in a hackish way. I created a new ATL project and copied all of the code over to the new project and it compiled fine. The original project did not include ATL by default. I added it to the project settings later. The events suggest to me that in some way I failed to add ATL support properly. You're including the wrong file I'm afraid. If your COM-dll projects is named XYZ, include the autogenerated XYZ.h. Also make sure you include XYZ_i.c somewhere, perhaps stdafx.cpp? It contains the GUIDs related to your interfaces and classes. Either that or #import "XYZ.dll" -- Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face.
